If you bake and cook everyday then this is a must to have in your cupboard, it's so much cheaper than using cooking spray and works even better than Pam cooking spray, no chemical fumes and will not leave burnt on black residue on the edges of your pans like cooking spray will and will keep forever in your cupboard --- for baking recipes using chocolate you may use 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder in place of white flour or 1/4 cup each cocoa powder and flour --- this may be increased or decreased sucessfully just make certain that all three ingredients are the same amounts or the mixture will not work as well ;-)

Ingredients

1/2 cup canola oil or 1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup vegetable shortening, room temperature (Crisco shortening is good)
1/2 cup all-purpose flour

Steps:

Place all ingredients in a mixing bowl.
Using an electric mixer beat until mixture has increased in volume slightly and resembles marshmallow cream.
Place in a container with a lid and store on the counter or in a cupboard (in hot weather it may be refrigerated).
The mixture tends to separate slightly upon sitting in your cupboard or refrigerator so mix before using, then brush pans using a pastry brush or a clean paper towel.

½ cup all-purpose flour
½ cup vegetable shortening
½ cup vegetable oil

Steps:

In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients with a hand mixer until the mixture slightly increases in volume and the mixture looks smooth and creamy. Place in a covered container and store on counter top or in the pantry. To use: Use a pastry brush, clean paper towel or clean fingers to coat the inside of baking pans before baking. Use within 3-4 months or store in refrigerator for longer use. NOTES: You can easily adjust this to make larger or smaller batches! Use the same ratios for all three ingredients to increase or decrease amounts. (For instance, if you need more: 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 cup vegetable shortening, and 1 cup vegetable oil.)

3/4 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard (prepared is O.K.)
1 large egg, plus water to make 3/4 cup
3/4 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup white vinegar

Steps:

In a blender combine vegetable oil, lemon juice, salt, dry or prepared mustard, and the egg/water mixture.
Blend well.
In a medium sauce pan cook together flour, sugar, water/egg/oil mixture and vinegar until stiff, stirring constantly.
While hot, add to blender.
Pulse a few times and then blend until smooth.
*** Make sure you release the lid a few times during this pulsing to release any built up heat.
