MOCHA JAVA ICE CREAM CAKE



Mocha Java Ice Cream Cake image

Coffee ice cream and whipped topping are layered with chocolate graham cracker crumbs in this easy frosty dessert.

22 chocolate graham crackers, finely crushed (about 3 cups crumbs)
1/2 cup (1 stick) margarine or butter, melted
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 gal. (2 qt.) coffee ice cream, softened, divided
1 tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Mix graham crumbs, margarine and sugar. Reserve 1-1/2 cups of the crumb mixture; press remaining crumb mixture firmly onto bottom of 13x9-inch baking pan.
  • Bake 10 minutes. Remove from oven; cool completely.
  • Spread half of the ice cream over crust. Sprinkle with 1 cup of the reserved crumbs; press lightly into ice cream. Top with remaining ice cream; cover with whipped topping. Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup crumbs. Freeze 4 to 6 hours or overnight until firm. Cut into 24 squares to serve. Store leftover squares in freezer.

1 teaspoon instant coffee granules
1 tablespoon hot water
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups whipped topping
1 chocolate crumb crust (9 inches)
PUDDING LAYER:
1 teaspoon instant coffee granules
1 cup 2% milk
1 package (3.9 ounces) instant chocolate pudding mix
1-1/2 cups whipped topping
KAHLUA CREAM:
1 cup heavy whipping cream
3 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
1 tablespoon Kahlua (coffee liqueur)
Chocolate curls, optional

Steps:

  • Dissolve coffee granules in hot water. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and confectioners' sugar until fluffy. Add vanilla and coffee mixture. Fold in whipped topping. Spoon into crust., In a small bowl, dissolve coffee granules in milk. In a large bowl, combine milk mixture and pudding mix. Beat on high speed until pudding is thick. Fold in whipped topping. Spread carefully over cream cheese layer., In a small bowl, beat cream until it begins to thicken. Add confectioners' sugar and Kahlua; beat until soft peaks form. Spread over pudding layer. Top with chocolate curls if desired. Refrigerate for 2 hours or until set.

2 teaspoons instant coffee granules
2 tablespoons strong brewed coffee
2 tablespoons milk
¼ cup butter, softened
¼ cup cocoa powder
2 ½ cups confectioners' sugar
6 ounces white chocolate
½ cup butter
½ cup white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg
2 cups graham cracker crumbs
½ cup finely chopped walnuts
¾ cup flaked coconut

Steps:

  • To make Pastry: Combine 1/2 cup butter, white sugar, vanilla and the egg in a double boiler over low heat. Stir until thick. Add the graham cracker crumbs, coconut and nuts and mix well. Pour into baking pan and let cool.
  • To prepare Filling: In medium-sized bowl, dissolve the instant coffee in the hot coffee. Mix in powdered sugar, cocoa, 1/4 cup of butter and milk. Spread filling over pastry and chill for 15 minutes.
  • To prepare Topping: Melt white chocolate in double boiler over low heat. Spread over filling and cut into squares. Store in refrigerator.

¾ cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
1 ¾ cups bread flour
1 tablespoon dry milk powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 ½ tablespoons butter
¼ cup rye flour
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 egg
1 tablespoon mocha flavored instant coffee mix
¼ cup chopped almonds
2 teaspoons active dry yeast

Steps:

  • Place ingredients in bread machine pan in the order suggested by the manufacturer. Select white bread setting. Start.
  • To bake bread in oven: select dough or manual cycle. Once cycle is complete, shape dough and place in a greased loaf pan. Allow to rise in a warm spot until doubled in size. Bake in a preheated 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) oven for 35 to 45 minutes or until a thermometer inserted in the center of the loaf reads 200 degrees F (95 degrees C).

I just made this drink and after checking to see if it had been posted, thought that I'd better do it before I forgot the measurements or before I couldn't type anymore... I'm not sure how many servings this makes. I think that it depends on how your day went.

1 1/2 ounces Kahlua
9 1/2 ounces prepared coffee frappe beverage, drink chilled (I used one bottle of Starbucks Mocha Frappucchino)
ice (optional)

Steps:

  • If using ice, place ice in a tall glass.
  • Pour vodka into glass.
  • Pour Kahlua into the same glass.
  • Pour coffee drink into the same glass.
  • Drink.
  • Don't bother mixing the drink, pouring the liquids in will mix the drink for you (isn't that efficient?). Do you really want to wash another utensil? After a few of these, you might not even be able to find it anyway.
