PIGS IN A BLANKET
Kids love this one. My mom made it for me as did her mom. If making for a small child, cut the hot dogs into fourths length wise. The cheese is always optional.

Steps:
- Cut hot dogs lengthwise 3/4 of the way through. Insert a piece of cheese or 1/2 teaspoon caramelized onions into each hot dog, if using; set aside. If not using cheese or onions, poke hot dogs several times with the tip of a knife.
- On a lightly floured work surface, working with one sheet of puff pastry at a time, roll into a 14-by-11-inch rectangle. Cut lengthwise into seven 1 1/2-inch wide strips. Cut each strip crosswise into 4 rectangles, each about 3 1/2 inches long.
- In a small bowl, beat together egg and 1 tablespoon water; set aside. Line baking sheets with parchment paper or a nonstick baking mat; set aside. Place a hot dog on the narrow end of one piece of pastry. Roll to enclose, brushing with some of the beaten egg to adhere; transfer to prepared baking sheet. Repeat process with remaining hot dogs and pastry. Brush the tops of puff pastry with egg and sprinkle with seeds, if using. Transfer to refrigerator and let chill for 15 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
- Transfer baking sheets to oven and bake until puffed and golden, about 20 minutes. Let cool briefly before serving with mustard and ketchup.

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 375°. Working quickly while cold, unroll the crescent dough sheet on a lightly floured surface and separate the perforated dough into 8 triangles. Cut each dough triangle into three equal skinny triangles.
- Place one cocktail sausage on the wide base of one skinny triangle. Roll the sausage toward the pointed end of the triangle, allowing the dough to overlap and wrap around the sausage. Place the rolled sausage on a parchment-lined baking sheet, point-side down. Repeat with the remaining dough triangles and sausages.
- Whisk together the egg with 1 teaspoon water in a small bowl until smooth. Brush the egg wash over the dough and sprinkle with the everything bagel seasoning, if desired. Bake at 375° until the dough is puffed and golden brown, 12 to 15 minutes.
- Make the dipping sauces (optional): For the Spicy Mayo Dipping Sauce, stir together the mayo and chile-garlic sauce in a small bowl until smooth. For the Maple-Dijon Dijon Dipping Sauce, stir together the mustard and syrup in a small bowl until smooth. For the Quick Ranch, stir together the sour cream, pickle juice, and chives in a small bowl until smooth.
- Serve the pigs in a blanket warm with Spicy Mayo, Maple Dijon, or Quick Ranch Dipping Sauces.
TWO-INGREDIENT DOUGH PIGS IN A BLANKET
Two ingredients are all you need to make the homemade dough for these pigs in a blanket that will be the hit of your next party. I like to serve with mustard dipping sauce but BBQ sauce and cheese dip are good too.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
- Open a can of crescent rolls, and unroll the dough.
- Place one triangular piece of crescent roll dough on the cookie sheet.
- Put a cocktail smokie in the wide end of the dough triangle.
- Roll the dough around the sausage. You should have one layer of dough covering it completely-no edges peeking out! This is the base of the finger, and you should still have some crescent roll dough left over.
- Roll the remaining dough to form the rest of the finger, tapering it at the end and rounding it off so it looks realistic.
- Put 1/2 of an olive on the end of the finger. Tuck the edges into the dough so that it looks like a fingernail. Use a knife to score "wrinkles" into the knuckles.
- Put the fingers in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, until they are golden brown.
