Ingredients

1 cup beef jerky, beef or 1 cup venison, coarsely powdered
1 cup dried saskatoon berries or 1 cup dried blueberries
1 cup un-roasted sunflower seeds or 1 cup crushed nuts, of any kind
2 teaspoons honey
1/4 cup peanut butter
1/2 teaspoon cayenne

Steps:

This version uses peanut butter rather than melted suet or lard as the binding agent, which is more palatable for today's health conscious diets.
Although you can do it the old way if you wish.
Grind[or pound] the dried meat to a mealy powder.
Add the dried berries and seeds or nuts.
Heat the honey, peanut butter and cayenne until softened.
Blend.
When cooled, store in a plastic bag or sausage casing in a cool dry place.
It will keep for months.

Ingredients

1 lb moose, sliced thin
1/2 cup raisins
3 large dates
2 tablespoons melted suet
2 tablespoons melted vegetable shortening
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Steps:

Cut/the meat into thin slices and dry as for jerky in a slow oven, (175-200 Degrees F.) for 4 to 5 hours.
Put the dried meat through a coarse grinder, then pulverize it into a fine powder.
Grind the raisins and dates together and work into the meat with your fingers until thoroughly blended.
Combine the melted suet, shortening and lemon juice.
Pour over the meat/fruit until the mixture will hold together.
Shape into small patties about 3-inches in diameter and 1/2 in thick.
Keep covered in a cool dry place.
