My husband and I enjoy country living on our 120-acre farm where we grow corn and soybeans. I often prepare this refreshingly different coffee cake for breakfast or a midday snack.

- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in orange juice and zest. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating well after each addition. , Pour into a greased 9-in. square baking dish. For topping, combine sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over batter. Drizzle with butter. Bake at 375° for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.

- 1. Using pastry blender, cut margarine into the 1/3 cup flour, brown sugar and the 1 tablespoon orange peel until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Set aside for topping.2. Sift together cake flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.3. In large mixing bowl, beat shortening and granulated sugar until thoroughly combined. Add egg, the 2 teaspoons orange peel and almond flavoring. Beat well. Stir n KELLOGG'S ALL-BRAN cereal, orange juice and milk. Add flour mixture, stirring only until combined. Spread evenly in 9 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan coated with cooking spray. Sprinkle with topping, pressing lightly into batter.4. - Sift together flour, baking soda and salt; combine 1 cup with dates and walnuts. Set both mixtures aside. , In a large bowl, cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add orange zest. Add reserved flour and date mixtures. Stir in buttermilk just until blended. , Spoon into a greased and floured 10-in. tube pan. Bake at 300° for 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 hours or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. , For syrup, in a small saucepan, heat orange juice and sugar until sugar is dissolved. Let stand for 30 minutes. Cool cake in pan for 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack. Cool 10 minutes more before pouring syrup over cake.

CINNAMON TWIST COFFEE CAKE
I got this recipe over 40 yrs ago from a Fleischmann's Yeast Cookbook, The section is called "Rising on Ice" I love it because I do all the work the day or several hours before and just bake it when I want it really fresh & warm from the oven!

Steps:
- In large bowl mix together 1 3/4 cups flour, 1/2 cup sugar, salt & yeast.
- Combine milk, water & 1/4 cup butter in small bowl. Heat til very warm (120 - 130). I do 90 seconds in micorwave. Butter does not need to melt. Gradually add to dry ingredients. Beat at medium 2 minutes, Add the egss & 1/2 cup flour and beat on high 2 minutes. Switch to dough hook or add by hand, enough flour to make a moderately stiff dough. If adding raisins, you may do so now. Knead until smooth & elastic in mixer on by hand on floured board.
- Place in greased bowl, cover & let rise in warm place 20 minutes.
- Divide dough in half. Roll each hald into a 9 x 12 inch rectangle.
- Spread with melted butter.
- Sprinkle with mixture of the remaining 3/4 cup sugar & cinnamon.
- Fold from 9" side- 3" over the center of the sqaure. Then fold the other side over 3" so you will have it folded into thirds (3 layers)it will be 3" x 12".
- Cut into 12 one inch slices. Take each slice and pinch end to seal. Tightly twist your slice and place into a greased 9 " square pan. (2 rows of 6). Repeat with other half.
- Cover with sprayed or lightly oiled wax paper. Then top with plastic wrap.
- Chill for 2 - 24 hours.
- When ready to bake, remove from refrigerator. Uncover. Let stand at room temp for 10 minutes.
- Bake at 375 for about 25 - 30 minutes. Serve drizzled with powdered sugar glaze. May be separated & served individually or cut as a coffee cake. Enjoy!

- In a bowl, cream butter and one cup of sugar together.
- Add one tablespoon of water to baking soda and add vinegar to the milk.
- Mix in rind from two oranges, flour, egg, water/baking soda mixture and milk/vinegar mixture.
- Add walnuts and dates.
- Bake in an angel food cake pan or a spring form pan at 350 degrees for approximately 40 minutes.
- While cake is baking, squeeze the juice from the 2 oranges and mix with the remaining 1 cup of sugar.
- When cake comes out of the oven, pour this mixture over the cake.

- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
- Place dates in a bowl. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon baking soda on top and mix well. Add 1/3 cup boiling water, stir, and set aside until dates have swelled, about 10 minutes. Squeeze with your hands to remove most of the liquid.
- Meanwhile, mix flour and 1 teaspoon baking soda together in a bowl. Combine instant coffee, milk powder, and 2 tablespoons boiling water in a separate bowl; mix until dissolved.

- Mix all batter ingredients, remembering to sift to flour , grate the orange rind and chop the dates into small pieces Remember to preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius
- Once all batter ingredients are mixed, beat them together until smooth and pour into a greased tin (a loaf tin is preferable)
- Bake the cake for 40 minutes at 180degrees Celsius
- Once the cake is out of the oven and has cooled, heat the freshly squeezed orange juice and mix with the icing sugar till it is all dissolved.
- Once all dissolved, poke a few holes in the cake and pour the icing generously onto the cake allowing it to weep into the holes.

- In large bowl, mix 1 cup of the flour, the sour cream, granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons butter, the salt and yeast. Add warm water. Beat with electric mixer on low speed 1 minute, scraping bowl frequently. Beat on medium speed 3 minutes, scraping bowl frequently. Beat in egg. Stir in enough flour, 1 cup at a time, to make dough easy to handle.
- Turn dough onto lightly floured surface. Knead about 5 minutes or until smooth and elastic. Place in greased bowl and turn greased side up. Cover and let rise in warm place about 1 hour or until double. Dough is ready if indentation remains when touched.
- In ungreased 13x9-inch pan, mix 1/4 cup butter, 1/3 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup honey; spread evenly in pan. Punch down dough. On floured surface, flatten dough with hands or rolling pin into 24x9-inch rectangle.
- In small bowl, mix all filling ingredients until well blended. Spread filling crosswise over half of rectangle to within 1/4 inch of edges of dough; fold crosswise in half. Seal edges; cut rectangle crosswise into 6 (2-inch) strips. Twist each strip loosely; place strips crosswise in pan. Let rise until double, about 1 hour.
- Heat oven to 375°F. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until coffee cake is golden brown. Immediately turn upside down onto heatproof serving plate. Let stand 1 minute so honey mixture will drizzle over coffee cake.
