Wall's T-Bone Steak Marinade image

This was one of my grandfather's favorite recipes. It's so simple, the family loves it, and it's a wonderful recipe for a great barbeque meal!

1 cup vegetable oil
¾ cup soy sauce
½ cup lemon juice
¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
¼ cup prepared yellow mustard
4 cloves garlic, minced
ground black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Whisk the vegetable oil, soy sauce, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic, and pepper together in a bowl until combined.
  • To use the marinade, place the meat in the bag, coat with the marinade, squeeze out excess air, and seal the bag. Marinate in the refrigerator at least 2 hours. Discard the marinade after it has been used.

PAN-FRIED T-BONE STEAK

2 pound T-bone steak (about 1 1/2 inches thick)
Coarsely ground black pepper
Kosher salt
1 to 2 tablespoons oil, like peanut, corn, or soy
Serving Suggestions: Compound Butter

Steps:

  • About 1/2 hour before cooking the steak, bring it to room temperature.
  • Preheat a large cast iron skillet over medium heat. Lightly brush the steak all over with oil and season generously with salt and pepper. Raise the heat to high, add the steak and cook, turning once, until well browned, about 7 minutes for the first side, and 4 minutes on the second side, for medium-rare. Hold the steak with tongs and sear the edges. (An instant-read thermometer inserted perpendicularly into the steak registers 125 degrees F for medium rare.)
  • Transfer the steak to cutting board and cover loosely with foil. Let rest for 5 minutes.
  • Cut the tenderloin and strip from the bone, and slice against the grain. Transfer to a serving platter and serve au natural, with mustard, compound butter, or horseradish sauce.

Steps:

  • Mix the oil, soy sauce, Worcestershire, pineapple juice, granulated garlic, pepper and dry mustard in a bowl. Use to marinate steaks overnight or for 10 hours in the refrigerator. Makes enough marinade for 4 steaks.

1 1/2-2 lbs beef flank steak
1 cup teriyaki sauce
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1/3 cup honey
1/3 cup fresh orange juice
1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
1 tablespoon dark sesame oil
1 clove garlic, crushed (large)
to taste pepper
to taste salt

Steps:

  • In medium shallow dish, combine marinade ingredients, adding pepper, as desired; whisk until blended.
  • Remove and reserve 3/4 cup for basting.
  • With sharp knife, lightly score both sides of beef steak in a crisscross pattern.
  • Place steak in remaining marinade in dish, turning to coat. Cover and marinate in refrigerator 30 minutes, turning once. Remove steak from marinade; discard marinade. Place steak on grid over medium, ash-covered coals.
  • Grill, uncovered, 17 to 21 minutes for medium rare to medium doneness, basting occasionally with reserved 3/4 cup marinade and turning once. Place remaining basting marinade in s mall saucepan; place on grid of grill and bring to a boil.
  • Meanwhile carve steak diagonally across the grain into thin slices; arrange on platter.
  • Spoon hot marinade over beef, as desired.
  • Garnish with orange slices and rosemary sprigs.
  • Tip: To broil, place steak on rack in broiler pan so surface of meat is 2 to 3 inches from heat. Broil 13 to 18 minutes, basting occasionally with reserved 3/4 marinade and turning once.

This is an excellent marinade for any steak. The flavor is just wonderful. Our T-bones came out perfect. Very tender with a wonderful flavor. The original recipe is from TOH with some changes to suit our taste. Prep time does not include the time it takes to marinate the steaks.

1/2 cup water
1/2 cup light soy sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon McCormick's Montreal Brand steak seasoning
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon chipotle hot sauce
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 -3 garlic cloves, smashed
2 beef t-bone steaks (1 in thick)

Steps:

  • In a large resealable plastic bag, combine the first 11 ingredients.
  • Add steaks.
  • Seal the bag and turn to coat.
  • Refrigerate overnight, turning as often as you can. (I actually marinated my for a day and a 1/2.).
  • Drain and discard marinade.
  • Grill steaks, over high heat for about 5 minutes on each side or until meat reaches desired doneness (for medium-rare, a meat thermometer should read 145 degrees, medium, 160 degrees, well-done 170 degrees).
