BACON WRAPPED ASPARAGUS

Bacon wrapped asparagus are great for a Whole30 dinner side dish, snack, or party appetizer!

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 pound of fresh asparagus spears (~32 stalks)
4 slices of bacon
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon se salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F, and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Separate the asparagus stalks into 4 per bundle, and place them on the baking sheet. You should get 8 bundles or so.
  • Cut each slice of bacon in half. You should have 8 pieces of bacon now.
  • Wrap each piece of bacon around each bundle of asparagus.
  • Whisk together all remaining ingredients in a measuring cup with a pour spout. Drizzle the vinaigrette over the bundles evenly.
  • Bake for 15 minutes, no need to flip half-way through.
  • To reheat leftover bundles, place them back in the oven at 350 until sizzling.

24 stalks fresh asparagus, (end trimmed)
8 slices bacon, (whole30 approved)
1 pinch sea salt flakes
1 pinch fresh black pepper

Steps:

  • Pre-heat oven to 400F degrees. Line a medium baking sheet pan with parchment paper and set aside
  • Gather 3 asparagus stalks at a time and wrap with a slice of bacon, starting from the bottom. Place bacon wrapped asparagus bundle bacon-ends side down. Repeat until done
  • Bake for 16 minutes. I did not need to turn. When done switch oven setting to broiler and cook for 2-3 minutes depending on your preference of crispiness.

6 slices bacon, or more to taste

Steps:

  • Place asparagus in a large bowl. Pour olive oil over spears and coat each one. Wrap 2 to 3 spears with 1 slice of bacon. Repeat with remaining asparagus and bacon.
  • Preheat an outdoor grill for medium heat and lightly oil the grate. Grill asparagus until bacon is crispy, 3 to 4 minutes per side. Season with pepper.

1 1/2 pounds fresh asparagus, ends trimmed
8 slices bacon
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Pinch freshly grated nutmeg
1 cup whole milk
1/2 cup grated Gruyere
1/2 cup crispy fried onions

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Divide the asparagus spears into 8 bundles. Wrap each bundle in the middle of the spears with one piece of bacon. Place the bundles seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle with the olive oil and sprinkle with 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. Bake until the bacon is fully cooked, about 25 minutes.
  • Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Sprinkle the flour over the butter and stir. Cook until the mixture is golden brown and has a nutty aroma, about 1 minute. Stir in the mustard powder, onion powder, nutmeg and remaining 1/2 teaspoon each salt and pepper. Slowly whisk in the milk a little at a time and continue cooking and whisking until the mixture thickens, 2 to 3 minutes. Stir in the cheese until melted, then take off the heat.
  • Carefully transfer the bacon bundles to a serving platter. Pour the cheese sauce over the asparagus and sprinkle with the fried onions. Serve warm.

1 bunch asparagus
1/2 pack uncured bacon
1 tbsp olive oil
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425.
  • Line a baking sheet with foil or a non-stick cooking spray. OR cover a baking sheet with a baking rack (to drain the grease from the bacon).
  • Bundle asparagus into groups of four and wrap with one piece of bacon. Place spread apart on baking ban/rack.
  • Drizzle olive oil and sprinkle seasoning on top of the bundles.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes depending on desired crispiness of bacon. Serve immediately.

5 bacon strips, halved lengthwise

Steps:

  • Place asparagus on a sheet of waxed paper; coat with cooking spray. Sprinkle with pepper; turn to coat. Wrap a bacon piece around each spear; secure ends with toothpicks. , Grill, uncovered, over medium heat until bacon is crisp, 4-6 minutes on each side. Discard toothpicks.
