QUICK & EASY CARAMELIZED PEARS



Quick & Easy Caramelized Pears image

Seasonal fruit is the perfect starting point for a memorable meal-ender.

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 tablespoons unsalted butter
3 medium pears, such as Anjou or Bartlett, quartered and cored
1/4 cup packed light-brown sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Salt
Vanilla ice cream, for serving

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, melt butter over medium-high. Add pears, one cut side down, and cook until browned, then reduce heat to medium and cook 3 minutes. Turn pears to other cut side and cook 4 minutes. Add sugar and 1 tablespoon water, swirling pan to combine. Turn pears skin side down and cook until sauce is thickened slightly, 2 minutes. Stir in vanilla and pinch of salt. Serve warm with ice cream.

1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup sugar
8 fresh pears, halved and cored
1/2 cup Curacao (or similar liqueur)
1/2 cup black currant jam
1 cup whipping cream
1 pinch sugar

Steps:

  • Cook the water, vanilla and 1 cup sugar until the sugar dissolves.
  • Poach the pears in this syrup until soft; remove the pears.
  • Add the Curaçao to the syrup and cook until thick.
  • Put pear halves on a serving platter or on 8 individual serving dishes and fill the centers with 1/2 Tbs jam per pear half.
  • Pour the syrup over them.
  • Whip the cream until stiff, beat in the pinch of sugar, and spoon over the pears.

Here's what you need: pears, water, sugar, rum, vanilla extract, vanilla ice cream, dark chocolate

6 pears, slightly firm
5 cups water
2 cups sugar
¾ cup rum
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
vanilla ice cream, to taste
⅓ cup dark chocolate, melted

Steps:

  • Peel the pears and cut the bottoms out, but leave the stems intact.
  • Mix the water, sugar, rum, and vanilla in a large pot. Set to medium heat.
  • Add the pears. Cover with a lid and simmer for about 40 minutes, turning occasionally. Cook until soft and golden (this can take less time depending on the ripeness of your pears.
  • Scoop out the pears and place upright on a dish. At this point you can cook the liquid longer until it becomes a syrup, or ladle a small amount directly onto the pears right away.
  • Add optional ice cream.
  • Melt some dark chocolate and spoon it onto the pear or your favorite toppings like nuts!
  • Enjoy!
