Provided by Hey Jude

Categories     Lunch/Snacks

Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 8

16 ounces mild pork sausage or 16 ounces hot pork sausage
3 cups biscuit mix (like Bisquick)
3 cups grated cheddar cheese
1 (4 ounce) jar diced pimentos, drained
1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
1/2 tablespoon hot sauce, such as tabasco
sweet and sour sauce (optional)
barbecue sauce (optional)

  • In a large bowl of an electric mixer, combine sausage, biscuit mix, cheese, pimientos, garlic powder and hot sauce; mix on medium speed until well combined, about 1 minute.
  • Add water by the tablespoonful, if necessary, to get mixture to a workable consistency.
  • Shape into 1-inch balls and place 1/2-inch apart on baking sheets.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until bottoms are golden brown.

PIMENTO CHEESE SAUSAGE BALLS

Pimento Cheese Sausage Balls image

Bisquick sausage balls loaded with pimento cheese are a delicious appetizer or snack that everyone loves! This easy 3 ingredient sausage balls recipe takes less than 30 minutes, and is great to make ahead so you have multiple batches to enjoy and freeze!

Provided by Renae

Categories     Appetizer     Side Dish     Snack     Dinner     Holiday

Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 pound ground pork sausage ((I prefer Jimmy Dean hot breakfast sausage or hot Italian sausage))
1 container (12 ounces) pimento cheese ((I prefer the Palmetto cheese brand))
2 cups Bisquick baking mix ((see notes below for how to make baking mix))
1/2 cup green onion, green part, chopped

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375º Fahrenheit. Prepare the baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
  • Add the ground sausage, pimento cheese mixture, baking mix, and green onion (if using) to a large mixing bowl. Use clean hands, a potato masher, or stand mixer to mix the sausage ball mixture together. If using your hands, it is best to knead or fold the Bisquick and cheese into the ground sausage.
  • Use a medium scoop or large tablespoon to make 24 pimento sausage balls, about the size of a golf ball. Place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake at 375º Fahrenheit for 15-20 minutes, until the meatballs are lightly golden brown in color. Use an instant-read thermometer to ensure the center of the sausage balls registers 145º Fahrenheit in temperature.
  • Serve with your favorite dipping sauce, like marinara sauce or a zesty BBQ sauce.
