This is a very pretty and tasty drink. Great for adults and children.

1 cup white sugar
¾ cup water
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
4 drops red food coloring
1 (2 liter) bottle lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage, chilled
1 lemon, sliced

Steps:

  • In a saucepan, combine sugar and water. Boil for 1 minute, stirring to dissolve sugar. Remove from heat, and stir in vanilla and red food coloring; allow to cool. Store in a squeeze bottle for easy use.
  • Fill glasses halfway with ice. Add 1 tablespoon syrup, then top with 8 ounces lemon-lime soda. Garnish with a slice of lemon.

10 ounces white candy coating, coarsely chopped
2 tablespoons crushed peppermint candies (about 7 candies)
1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
2 drops red food coloring

Steps:

  • In a microwave, melt candy coating at 70% power for 1 minute; stir. Microwave in additional 10- to 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth., Stir in the crushed candies, peppermint extract and food coloring. Spread onto waxed paper to cool completely. Break into small pieces; store in an airtight container.
