Betty Crocker® fudge brownie mix and pecans turn into a delicious brownie - perfect for dessert.

1 box (1 lb 2.3 oz) Betty Crocker™ fudge brownie mix
Water, vegetable oil and eggs as called for on brownie mix box
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup whipping cream
6 tablespoons butter
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped pecans, toasted
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350° F. Spray bottom only of 13x9-inch pan with cooking spray.
  • Make brownie mix as directed on box for fudge brownies, using water, oil and eggs. Stir in chopped pecans. Bake as directed. Cool completely, about 1 hour.
  • In medium saucepan, mix cream, butter and brown sugar. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until mixture comes to a boil. Continue cooking 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in pecans, powdered sugar and vanilla. Cool 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • Spread frosting over brownies. Allow to stand 30 to 45 minutes, or until frosting is set. For bars, cut into 6 rows by 4 rows.

I needed to jazz up my brownies for company and my mom-in-law suggested this recipe which she's been making for a long time. Wow. It's super-easy and quite tasty! Thanks, Mom!

1 (21 ounce) box brownie mix (I use Duncan Hines)
3 eggs
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 cup pecans (or walnuts)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees (or as the brownie package suggests).
  • Grease bottom of 9x13 pan and set aside.
  • Stir together brownie mix, eggs, water, and oil.
  • Pour into prepared pan.
  • Mix butter, brown sugar, and nuts together and drop by tablespoonfuls or crumble with fingers over brownie batter.
  • Bake according to brownie package directions, 30-35 minutes.
  • Cool before cutting and devouring!

2 1/4 cups sugar

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup pecans, toasted and coarsely chopped
5 tablespoons margarine or 5 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
3 tablespoons Bourbon, or, in place of bourbon, substitute 1 tablespoon vanilla extract and 2 tablespoons water, per recipe
2 cups confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • Make the Brownies: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line 13- by 9-inch metal baking pan with foil; grease foil.
  • In heavy 3-quart saucepan over low heat, melt margarine or butter and chocolates, stirring frequently. Remove saucepan from heat. With wire whisk, beat in sugar, then eggs, until well blended. Stir in vanilla, salt, then flour just until blended. Spread batter evenly in pan.
  • Bake 35 minutes (toothpick inserted in brownies will not come out clean). Cool brownies in pan on wire rack. If not using brownies within 1 day, cover cooled brownies with foil and refrigerate or freeze for longer storage.
  • Prepare Praline Topping: In 2-quart saucepan over medium-low heat, heat margarine or butter and brown sugar, until mixture melts and bubbles, about 5 minutes. Remove saucepan from heat. With wire whisk, beat in bourbon (or substitute), then confectioners' sugar, until mixture is smooth.
  • With metal spatula, spread topping over room-temperature brownies; sprinkle with pecans. Cut brownies lengthwise into 8 strips, then cut each strip crosswise into 8 pieces.
