Salted Toffee Chocolate Squares image

This fun recipe for salted toffee chocolate squares is as easy as it is addictively delicious! It's the perfect little dessert or gift from the kitchen.

12 graham crackers broken into squares
1 8 oz bag toffee pieces (found in the baking aisle, usually as Heath Bar pieces)
1 1/2 cups roasted, salted almonds, roughly chopped
1 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup chocolate chips
1/2 tsp sea salt

Steps:

  • Set the oven rack in the middle of the oven and preheat to 350 degrees. Line a rimmed baking sheet with non-stick foil. (I beg you not to skip this step.)
  • Lay the graham crackers on the baking sheet, touching each other. Sprinkle the toffee pieces and the chopped almonds evenly over the crackers. Set aside.
  • Combine the sugar and butter in a small pot and bring to a boil over medium high heat. Turn the heat to medium low and simmer for a few minutes until the mixture looks syrupy. Remove from heat and pour over the graham crackers, trying to soak all of them.
  • Pop the squares into the oven and Bbake for about 12 minutes. Remove and immediately sprinkle with the chocolate chips and sea salt.
  • Cool them for 15 minutes (so hard!) and then use a pizza cutter or large knife to cut into 2 inch squares. Transfer the squares to a cooling rack.

13 graham crackers
1 bag (8 ounces) toffee bits
1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped toasted natural almonds
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
3/4 cup (4 ounces) bittersweet chocolate, chopped, or chocolate chips
3/4 teaspoon coarse salt

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil. Place graham crackers in a single layer on sheet, edges touching. Sprinkle toffee bits and almonds over graham crackers.
  • In a small saucepan, bring sugar and butter to a boil over medium-high. Reduce heat and cook at a rapid simmer, swirling pan occasionally, until mixture is syrupy, 2 minutes. Immediately pour over graham crackers. Bake until sugar topping is bubbling, 12 minutes. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate and salt over graham crackers. With a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut into 2-inch squares. Let cool completely on sheet on a wire rack. (Store in an airtight container, up to 1 week.)

1 1/2 cups chopped almonds
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup butter
3/4-1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
3/4 teaspoon sea salt

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil. Place graham crackers in a single layer on the sheet, edges touching. Sprinkle the almonds and toffee chips over the graham crackers.
  • In a small saucepan, bring the sugar and butter to a boil over med-high heat. Reduce heat and cook at a rapid simmer, swirling pan occasionally, until syrupy approx 2 minute Immediately pour over the graham crackers. Bake until the sugar topping is bubbling, approx 12 minute Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with chocolate chips. As the chocolate melts smooth out the chocolate and sprinkle with sea salt. Cut into 2 inch squares with a pizza cutter. Let cool on a wire rack.
  • Bring the sugar.

1 cup butter
1 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups unsifted all-purpose flour
1 (6 ounce) package semi-sweet chocolate chips
3/4 cup coarsely chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Grease a 13x9x2 inch pan.
  • Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add egg yolk, vanilla and salt.
  • Blend well.
  • Beat in flour just until combined.
  • Turn into prepared pan, spreading evenly.
  • Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with chocolate chips.
  • When melted, spread and sprinkle with nuts.
  • Cut into squares while warm.
  • Let cool completely.

1 pouch (1 lb 1.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ sugar cookie mix
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 egg
1 cup toffee bits
1 bag (11 oz) caramels, unwrapped
1/3 cup heavy whipping cream
2 cups semisweet or milk chocolate chips
3/4 teaspoon coarse sea salt

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Line 15x10x1-inch cookie sheet with sides with foil. In large bowl, stir cookie mix, butter and egg until soft dough forms. Stir in 1/2 cup of the toffee bits. Press dough in bottom of pan. Bake 14 to 16 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool 5 minutes on cooling rack.
  • In 2-quart saucepan, heat caramels and cream over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until caramels are melted, 5 to 10 minutes. Remove from heat. Spread over warm cookie base. Bake 5 minutes. Return to cooling rack. Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over top. Let stand 3 minutes; spread melted chips evenly over filling. Sprinkle with sea salt and remaining 1/2 cup toffee bits. Refrigerate bars until chocolate is firm, about 15 minutes. Cut into 8 rows by 4 rows. Store at room temperature in airtight container.
