Time 50m

Yield 6

Number Of Ingredients 17

1 box whole wheat elbow pasta
1/2 cup shredded Gouda cheese
1 cup Greek Yogurt
-1/2 cup Cream Cheese
5 Tablespoons Butter ( plus some to saute the shrimp)
1 libra. Shrimp
1 package bacon
2 cups 6 cheese Italian Blend shredded
1/2 cup Monterrey Jack Cheese shredded
1/2 cup crumbled Feta
3/4 cup Swiss cheese shredded
3/4 cup Gruyere cheese shredded
1 cup Cheddar cheese shredded
1/2 cup milk
3/4 cup Parmesan cheese
1/2-3/4 cup Panko bread crumbs
Large baking dish.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350. While preparing the shrimp and bacon, cook the pasta and drain. Make sure you cook the pasta, with mac-n-cheese you do not want al-dente because the pasta will continue to absorb later and will make your mac-n-cheese dry.
  • Peel and rinse shrimp. Drain well. With 2-3 tablespoons of butter, saute in pan over med-high heat until for 5-7 minutes35 or until cooked. Be careful not to overcook- they can become tough. When done drain from butter and cut into small pieces.
  • In another skillet (or on a sheet pan in the oven) cook bacon until slightly crispy. Don't overcook. Cut or break into similar size pieces as the shrimp.
  • Grease the bottom of the baking dish with a good amount of butter. Drain the pasta and return the pot to low heat.
  • Combine the cheeses and pasta starting with the butter, cream cheese and Greek yogurt. When they are well combined add the additional cheeses, stirring well. Add 1/2 cup of milk and let cheeses melt and combine.
  • Add 1/2 cup of the pasta water (the water has the starch in it which will help bind the dish). Make sure to keep an eye that the mixture does not look dry. You want it to be wet, but not over saturated, it will cook off a bit in the oven. Add shrimp and bacon. Stir well and add more milk or pasta water if needed. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Transfer the mixture to the baking sheet and cover with small bits of butter, Parmesan cheese and bread crumbs. Bake at 350 for 25 minutes. For the last 3 turn the broiler to low to brown and crisp the top of the dish.

Garlic Shrimp Mac and Cheese (Prawns) image

Recipe video above. Plump, juicy garlicky shrimp WITH a silky creamy, cheesy macaroni AND a crunchy parmesan topping?? Be still my beating heart. BONUS: It's all made in ONE POT!

Provided by Nagi

Categories     Side Dish

Time 22m

Number Of Ingredients 17

500 g / 1 lb peeled shrimp/prawns ((Note 1))
3 garlic cloves (, finely chopped)
1 tbsp olive oil
50 g / 3.5 tbsp unsalted butter (, divided)
3 tbsp / 30g flour (, plain / all purpose)
2 cups / 500ml milk (, preferably warmed (Note 2))
2.5 cups hot tap water
250 g / 8 oz elbow macaroni (, uncooked (2.5 cups))
1.5 cups (150g) cheese ((Cheddar, gruyere, or other), freshly grated (Note 3))
3/4 cup (75g) mozzarella cheese (, freshly grated (Note 3))
3/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp mustard powder
1/3 cup panko breadcrumbs
1/4 cup grated parmesan
1 tbsp olive oil

Steps:

  • Preheat broiler/grill on high.
  • Mix together Breadcrumb Topping.
  • Heat oil and melt 1 tbsp butter in a large, deep skillet or heatproof pot on the stove over high heat.
  • Add shrimp, sprinkle with pepper, then cook for 1 minute. Add garlic and cook for another minute until the shrimp has changed colour but not fully cooked.
  • Transfer to bowl. Turn heat down to medium.
  • Melt remaining butter. Add flour and cook for 1 minute.
  • Pour milk in slowly, stirring as you go. Once incorporated and lump free (use whisk if needed), stir in Seasonings, then water.
  • Once the liquid is hot, add macaroni. Cook for 8 minutes, stirring regularly, until macaroni is almost cooked through, then take it off the stove.
  • Add cheeses and stir through, then add shrimp. Taste for salt - tweak if needed. It should be saucy (see video) - it gets absorbed. Should still be saucy at this stage - sauce gets absorbed/thickens more in next step.
  • Sprinkle over breadcrumbs, then place under the hot grill for just 2 - 3 minutes until the top is golden.
  • Sprinkle with parsley if desired and served immediately!

SHRIMP MAC AND CHEESE

Shrimp Mac and Cheese image

This macaroni and cheese takes on a subtle coastal flair with the addition of shrimp. I used cooked salad shrimp as I found the size comparable to the elbow macaroni.

SHRIMP AND BACON PASTA CARBONARA

Shrimp and Bacon Pasta Carbonara image

Provided by Michelle Dunster - DishesAndDustBunnies.com

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 lb linguine pasta, cooked according to package directions and set aside
⅔ cup of reserved water from the cooked pasta
1 lb raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
¼ cup butter
½ tbsp olive oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
salt, to taste
pepper, to taste (just a little is good)
6 bacon strips, cut in 1″ sections
⅓ cup of grated parmesan cheese
2-3 eggs, beaten (I used 3 for the dish in the pictures but it's up to your preference)
chopped fresh Parsley, for garnish

Steps:

  • In a large skillet or frying pan, combine the butter and the minced garlic. Cook for a minute on medium heat to infuse the butter with the garlic flavor. Add the peeled and deveined shrimp and cook until they are pink on all sides. Depending on the size of your shrimp, cooking time should only be a few minutes.
  • Be sure to season with salt and a little pepper, to taste. Once shrimp has cooked remove from the pan and set aside in a dish. Make sure that you also pour the garlic infused butter into the bowl along with the shrimp too.
  • Cook the pasta according to package directions, reserve some of the pasta water and drain. Set aside until needed.
  • Cook the bacon over medium heat in the skillet until it's browned. Then, use a paper towel to blot up any excess grease and fat from the bacon. After removing the bacon from the pan, pour out any remaining grease and fat so that only clean oil remains in the pan.
  • Add the pasta and reserved pasta water to the skillet, then gently toss with the beaten eggs so that the eggs are evenly coating the pasta. Do this as quickly as possible so that the eggs don't clump together. You want them to evenly coat the pasta - try to avoid creating "chunks" of egg - everything should be smooth.
  • Add the parmesan cheese and toss it with the pasta. Return the reserved shrimp with garlic butter and the bacon to the skillet.
  • Serve right away and garnish with a sprinkling of fresh parsley.

MAC 'N CHEESE WITH BACON AND CHEESE

Mac 'N Cheese with Bacon and Cheese image

Provided by Tyler Florence

Categories     main-dish

Time 1h

Yield 6 to 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 14

Kosher salt
1 pound elbow macaroni
4 cups milk
2 or 3 sprigs thyme
4 cloves garlic, smashed and divided
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
5 1/2 cups shredded sharp white Cheddar
Freshly ground black pepper
1/4 cup chopped flat-leaf parsley
4 slices bacon, cut crosswise into thin strips
1 large onion, diced
2 garlic cloves, smashed
Leaves from 1/4 bunch fresh thyme

Steps:

  • Bring a pot of salted water to a boil over high heat. Add the macaroni and cook for 8 to 9 minutes, until al dente. Drain.
  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  • In a small saucepan heat the milk with the thyme sprigs and 2 garlic cloves. Melt the butter in a large, deep skillet over medium-high heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for about 1 minute, stirring constantly, to keep lumps from forming. Strain the solids out of the milk and whisk it into the butter and flour mixture. Continue to whisk vigorously, and cook until the mixture is nice and smooth. Stir in the 4 cups of the cheese and continue to cook and stir to melt the cheese. Season with salt and pepper. Add the cooked macaroni and the parsley and fold that all in to coat the macaroni with the cheese mixture. Scrape into a 3-quart baking dish and sprinkle with the remaining 1 1/2 cups cheese. Bake for 30 minutes, or until hot and bubbly.
  • While that bakes, heat a saute pan. Add the bacon, render the fat and cook until crispy. Add onion, garlic and thyme leaves and cook for about 5 minutes to soften the onion. Season with salt and pepper.
  • To serve, scatter the bacon mixture over the mac and cheese. Use a big spoon to scoop out servings, making sure you get some of the smoking bacon mixture on each spoonful.

Decadent Shrimp and Bacon Mac and Cheese image

This recipe is proof that a good mix of cheeses makes a decadent dish. Add bacon and shrimp to the mix and you have a dish everyone wants seconds (or thirds) of. It's great just the way it is, but if you want to add a bit more bacon and shrimp. I am sure no one will argue with you!
