INSTANT POT SIRLOIN STEAK

Instant Pot Sirloin Steak image

Instant Pot sirloin steak has all the flavor without all the work. Make this one-pot recipe that goes from kitchen to table in under an hour.

Provided by Olivia Ribas

Categories     dinner

Time 50m

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 lb sirloin steak strips (Your meat need to be a bit fatty. It helps with flavour and also it avoids the meat to get dry. )
salt and black pepper to taste
2 tablespoons olive oil
10 oz white mushroom (sliced)
3 garlic cloves (minced)
1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
2 teaspoons yellow mustard
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 teaspoons arrowroot flour (or cornstarch (if you're not doing paleo, Whole30 or low-carb))

Steps:

  • Set a 6-qt Instant Pot® to the sauté setting. Season the meat with salt and black pepper. When the pot is hot, add olive oil and beef. Cook for about 5-7 minutes or until the meat is browned on all sides. Remember to stir occasionally.
  • Then, add the mushroom, garlic, balsamic vinegar, yellow mustard and coconut aminos to the pot.
  • Put on the lid, lock it and check to see if the vent is at sealing. Then, select manual setting; adjust pressure to high, and set time for 15 minutes. Mine took about 15 minutes to reach pressure. After the 15 minutes is up, let it naturally release pressure for 10 minutes. Then, do a Quick Release, which means move the valve to venting to release the steam. When all the steam is gone, open the instant pot and add the arrowroot flour.
  • Mix all well and serve with mashed potato. Enjoy!

Provided by WCFranck

Time 1h20m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 16

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons steak seasoning
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 ¼ teaspoons kosher salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 (2 pound) beef sirloin, cut into 2-inch strips
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons salted butter
1 medium onion, chopped
2 large cloves garlic, minced
⅓ cup red wine
1 (10.5 ounce) can beef consomme
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon beef bouillon granules
1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves

Steps:

  • Mix flour, steak seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, kosher salt, and pepper together in a 1-gallon zip-top bag. Add sirloin strips and shake until evenly coated.
  • Turn on a multi-functional pressure cooker (such as Instant Pot®) and select Saute function. When the pot is hot, add the oil. Then add 1/2 of the steak in one layer. Brown both sides, about 5 minutes, but don't cook through, and remove to a plate. Repeat with the remaining meat.
  • Add butter, then onion to the pot. Stir and scrape the bottom of the pot, scraping up all of the browned bits. Add the garlic; stir. Cook for about 20 seconds, then add the red wine. Add consomme, Worcestershire sauce, beef bouillon, and thyme leaves. Mix well to dissolve the bouillon. Cancel the Saute setting. Add the beef tips back into the pot. Close and lock the lid.
  • Select high pressure according to manufacturer's instructions; set timer for 25 minutes. Allow 10 to 15 minutes for pressure to build.
  • Release pressure using the natural-release method according to manufacturer's instructions, for 10 minutes. Release remaining pressure carefully using the quick-release method, about 5 minutes. Unlock and remove the lid. Stir, taste gravy, and adjust salt if necessary.

STEAK IN THE INSTANT POT

Steak in the Instant Pot image

Steak in the Instant Pot is great with potatoes cooked all at the same time! Tender sirloin and vegetables for dinner have never been easier to make.

Provided by The Typical Mom

Categories     Entree     Main Course

Number Of Ingredients 10

1-2 lb steak (ours was sirloin)
1 onion (sliced)
1 c beef broth
1 pkg onion soup mix (or packet of gravy mix)
2 tbsp steak sauce
1 tsp minced garlic
2 small/medium potatoes (russet, cut in half)
salt and pepper (to taste)
2 tbsp cornstarch (+ 3 tbsp cold water)
2 tbsp olive oil (or butter)

Steps:

  • Put pot on saute and add olive oil with steaks. Sear on outsides. Remove and deglaze the pot using 1/4 c of broth. Slice onion and put on bottom of pot.
  • Season steak with salt, pepper and anything else you desire and place on top of onions. Try to overlap the least possible.
  • In a bowl whisk together rest of your broth, onion soup mix/or package of dry gravy mix, steak sauce and minced garlic. Pour this over your steak.
  • Cut potatoes into quarters and place inside pot on sides of steak. Sprinkle salt and pepper on potatoes.
  • Close lid and steam valve and set to high pressure for 5 minutes. (NOTE: timing will vary depending on how thick and large your pieces are and how well done you like them but this has been perfect for us)
  • Allow to naturally release steam when done, this will take about 15 minutes.
  • Remove steak, potatoes and onions and set pot to saute if you want to thicken sauce.
  • In a bowl whisk together cornstarch and water until smooth. Once it is boiling add this in and stir for 1-2 minutes so it thickens. Turn pot off and pour this sauce over potatoes and steak.
