Smoked Gouda Mac and Cheese image

This is a marvelously smooth mac and cheese with a bit of a bite. My family loves this. I got the idea from a recipe made on a popular cooking show, and adapted it to my own recipe and tastes. Delicious contrast if served with a 'sweet' main dish.

1 (16 ounce) package seashell pasta
2 ½ tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 ½ cups milk
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground white pepper
4 ounces smoked Gouda cheese, shredded

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease a 10 inch casserole dish.
  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain.
  • Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook until a roux forms. Stir in the milk, salt and pepper; cook, stirring constantly, until sauce is smooth and thick and coats the back of a spoon. Remove from heat and stir in cheese.
  • Combine cooked pasta and cheese sauce; transfer to prepared dish.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until heated through.

1 (16 ounce) package frozen cheese ravioli
1 cup half-and-half cream
1 cup shredded smoked Gouda cheese
1 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley
1 teaspoon white pepper

Steps:

  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a rolling boil over high heat; stir in the frozen ravioli and return to a boil. Cook uncovered, stirring occasionally, until the ravioli float to the top and the filling is hot, 6 to 8 minutes. Drain.
  • Meanwhile, bring the half-and-half to a simmer in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in the Gouda cheese until melted; season with parsley and white pepper. Pour the sauce over the cooked ravioli to serve.

An easy cheese sauce recipe - perfect for using as a dip or on pasta.

2 Tablespoon butter
2 Tablespoon flour
1 cup milk
1/2 cup Smoked Gouda, shredded
1/2 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • To make the cheese sauce melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat.
  • Add the flour and stir until well mixed and smooth.
  • Add the milk and use a whisk to stir it into the butter and flour. Increase the heat to medium and bring the mixture to a boil. Then lower the heat. Cook over the lower heat for 2-3 minutes until thickened.
  • Remove the sauce pan from the heat and add in the shredded cheese and salt. Stir until cheese is melted.

Homemade Smoked Gouda cheese sauce is a kitchen staple. Use this easy 10-minute recipe to drizzle over or dip into sausage, pretzels, veggies, and more!

2 tablespoons butter
3 cloves garlic, finely minced
1 teaspoon ground mustard
1/4 teaspoon paprika
2 tablespoons flour
2 cups whole milk
1 (6-oz) package Roth Smoked Gouda cheese, shredded
1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon horseradish sauce
Salt and pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • Heat a small saucepan over low. Melt butter, then add garlic. Cook garlic 1 to 2 minutes, or until fragrant. Whisk in ground mustard, paprika and flour to form a roux. Slowly whisk in milk, whisking vigorously to ensure no lumps remain. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes, whisking occasionally, until it begins to thicken. Add shredded cheese in small handfuls, whisking between each addition to ensure cheese is melted and incorporated into the sauce. Whisk in horseradish, and season with salt and pepper, to taste. Serve with dippers of choice!
