A recipe from the Everyday With Rachael Ray magazine. I have made it quite often and love it more every time!

Number Of Ingredients 11

4 slices bacon, chopped
1 medium onion
2 celery ribs, finely chopped
1 red bell pepper, finely chopped
4 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
3/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1 dash salt
1 dash pepper
4 hamburger buns, toasted

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook bacon over medium heat for 5 minutes.
  • Add onion, celery, bell pepper, and garlic.
  • Cook until vegetables are softened, about 7 minutes; push to side of the skillet, add ground beef and cook, stirring to break up clumps, until cooked through, about 7 minutes.
  • Stir in the ketchup and Worcestershire sauce and cook until thickened, about 5 minutes more.
  • Salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve on toasted buns.

  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil. Add the bacon and cook until crisp. Remove with a slotted spoon to a paper towel lined plate to drain.
  • To the same skillet, add the ground beef. Cook, breaking up with a spoon, until cooked through and browned. Stir in the onion, jalapeño, garlic, chili powder, cumin and coriander. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
  • In a bowl, mix together the beef broth, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, cider vinegar and hot sauce. Pour over the beef mixture. Bring to a bubble and cook until you reach your desired thickness, 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Serve the meat mixture on top of toasted buns topped with pickled jalapeños and crushed Fritos.
