Refreshing and colorful Asian Coleslaw with Sesame Dressing recipe - a perfect salad to complement BBQ meats, taco dinner, Ahi tuna steak, and other Asian dinner menus.

1 cabbage ((I use ½ green and ½ purple))
1 carrot
1 bunch cilantro (coriander) ((½ cup after chopped))
1 green onion/scallion
other vegetable choices ((shelled edamame, bell peppers))
½ cup apple cider vinegar
3 Tbsp sugar
2 Tbsp roasted sesame oil
2 Tbsp toasted white sesame seeds
¼ tsp kosher salt (Diamond Crystal; use half for table salt)
freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Gather all the ingredients.

A flavorful twist on the classic, this Asian inspired coleslaw has both green and red cabbage and is creamy, tangy and slightly spicy.

2 cups green cabbage (shredded)
1 cup red cabbage (shredded)
1 cup carrots (shredded)
1 cup scallions (minced)
1/4 cup rice wine vinegar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons mayonaisse
1 tablespoon grated ginger
1 clove garlic - grated
1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Whisk together the Spicy Mayo Dressing in the bottom of a large bowl: rice vinegar through sesame oil.
  • Add both types of cabbage and carrots to the bowl and toss to coat with the dressing. Check for seasoning and add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Toss in the scallions before serving.

1 whole napa cabbage, trimmed and shredded
3 green onions, trimmed and thinly sliced (using white and green parts)
1/2 cup cilantro, chopped
3 jalapenos, seeded and minced
1 (3 ounce) package oriental-flavor instant ramen noodles
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons sesame oil
1/4 cup rice vinegar
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted
coarse salt
fresh ground black pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • In large bowl, combine cabbage, green onions, cilantro, and jalapenos.
  • Remove noodles from soup mix and break into small bite sized pieces.
  • Add to cabbage mixture.
  • In a small bowl, whisk oils with vinegar, sugar and contents of seasoning packet from soup mix.
  • Pour over salad and toss thoroughly.
  • Add sesame seeds and salt and pepper to taste.
  • Toss to mix.

1 cup finely shredded green cabbage
3 cups finely shredded red cabbage
3 cups finely shredded napa cabbage
1/2 cup green onion, sliced
1/4 cup red bell pepper, chopped small
2 cups carrots, shredded
kosher salt
fresh ground black pepper
1/3 cup rice wine vinegar
2 teaspoons fresh lime juice (to taste)
2 -3 tablespoons chili-garlic sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons honey
1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger, peeled
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped
1 tablespoon fresh mint leaves, chopped
1 tablespoon fresh cilantro leaves, chopped
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons toasted sesame seeds
1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
kosher salt
1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
1/2 cup peanut oil (or corn oil)

Steps:

  • Whisk all ingredients except oils in a large bowl. Slowly drizzle in oils while whisking. Taste and adjust seasoning with more salt and lime juice if needed.
  • Combine the vegetables in a large bowl, season with salt and pepper. Toss to mix thoroughly. Pour in the Thai vinaigrette to taste and toss to mix. Adjust, adding more if desired. Enjoy!

1 tablespoon fresh parsley
2 teaspoons sesame seeds, toasted

Steps:

  • Combine the first 4 ingredients in a large bowl.
  • Add the green onions and coleslaw, tossing gently to coat.
  • Sprinkle the slaw with parsley and sesame seeds.
  • Serve immediately.
