From Betty Crocker Quick & Easy. Dip these in pizza sauce, salsa, or spaghetti sauce that has been warmed up.

2 1/4 cups Bisquick baking mix
2/3 cup milk
8 sticks mozzarella string cheese
1 tablespoon butter, melted
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Steps:

  • Stir bixquick and milk until soft dough forms and then beat 30 seconds with a spoon.
  • Place dough on flat surface that has been sprinkled with dry bisquick mix.
  • Roll the dough around to coat it and knead 10-12 times.
  • Roll the dough to 1/4" thick.
  • Cut into 8 rectangles about 6x2 each.
  • Put cheese sticks onto each dough cut-out, and roll the dough around it.
  • Pinch edge into roll to seal, seal edges and gently roll back and forth to further seal.
  • Place sticks on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake at 450 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Mix butter and garlic and brush it over the cheese sticks once you remove them from the oven.

These is an easy, cost-efficient way to make home-made fried cheese sticks. Taste just wonderful, light crispiness. More for your dollar and easily stored in the freezer for when you have a craving. I make 2 batches, one for the 'now' and one for later. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.

24 (1 ounce) sticks string cheese
5 eggs, beaten
3 cups Italian seasoned bread crumbs
1 quart vegetable oil for frying, or as needed

Steps:

  • Remove string cheese sticks from plastic wrappings and cut the strings in half crosswise.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place eggs in a bowl and bread crumbs into a large shallow bowl.
  • Dip cheese stick halves into egg and roll in bread crumbs to completely coat the sticks; place breaded cheese sticks onto the prepared baking sheet. Allow cheese sticks to stand at room temperature for about 5 minutes to set, and repeat dipping in egg and bread crumbs to form a thick coating. Freeze breaded cheese sticks for at least 2 hours.
  • Heat oil in a deep-fryer or large saucepan to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Deep fry cheese sticks, a few at a time, until the coating is golden brown and crisp and the cheese is soft, 5 to 8 minutes. Let sticks drain on paper towels; cool slightly and serve warm.

12 large egg roll wrappers (see note)
Oil for deep-fat frying
Marinara or spaghetti sauce

Steps:

  • Place a piece of string cheese near the bottom corner of one egg roll wrapper (keep remaining wrappers covered with a damp paper towel until ready to use). Fold bottom corner over cheese. Roll up halfway; fold sides toward center over cheese. Moisten remaining corner with water; roll up tightly to seal. Repeat with remaining wrappers and cheese., In an electric skillet, heat 1/2 in. of oil to 375°., Fry sticks, a few at a time, for 30-60 seconds on each side or until golden brown. At the request of my lovely 12 year old daughter, I am posting these, one of her favorite foods. We searched for a recipe together and ended up adapting one to suit our tastes. Enjoy!

1/4 cup flour
1 cup Italian style breadcrumbs
2 eggs
1 tablespoon milk
1 lb mozzarella cheese, cut into 3/4 inch x 3/4 inch strips (or you can use string cheese and cut each in half)
1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup jarred pizza sauce or 1 cup marinara sauce

Steps:

  • Whisk eggs and milk together.
  • Coat each piece of cheese with flour, then dip in egg and then roll in bread crumbs.
  • Dip in egg and crumbs again.
  • Freeze before frying.
  • Heat oil in skillet and cook sticks for about a minute on each side, or until golden and before cheese starts to leak.
  • Drain on paper towels.
  • Serve with sauce for dipping.

8 toothpicks
4 reduced-fat mozzarella string cheese sticks, halved
1 egg
¾ cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs

Steps:

  • Preheat a toaster oven on broil setting, or set an oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source and preheat the oven's broiler. Spray a small baking sheet with cooking spray.
  • Insert toothpick vertically into each cheese stick half to mid-way point. Beat egg in a small bowl. Place bread crumbs in a separate small bowl.
  • Dip each cheese stick into egg, then press into bread crumbs. Repeat dipping in egg and breadcrumbs for a double-thick coating. Place cheese sticks on prepared baking sheet and spray with additional cooking spray for uniform browning.

10 sticks string cheese

marinara sauce

Steps:

  • Slice the egg roll wrappers in half.
  • Place a stick of string cheese on the edge of the egg roll wrapper, then fold the sides of the wrapper over the ends of the cheese.
  • Wet the other edge of the wrapper with water, then roll it up tightly, pressing the edge to make sure it's sealed.
  • Repeat with the remaining wrappers and cheese.
  • Heat oil in a pot.
  • Fry the sticks until golden brown, then drain on a paper towel.
  • Serve with marinara.

Vegetable oil
1 cup Original Bisquick™ mix
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
Marinara sauce, if desired

Steps:

  • Place cheese sticks on tray; freeze at least 1 hour.
  • Heat 2 inches of oil to 375°F in large heavy saucapan or follow manufacturer's direction on deep fryer. Beat Bisquick mix, paprika, milk and egg until smooth. Dip cheese, 1 stick at a time, into batter, covering cheese completely.
  • Fry 8 to 10 sticks at a time 1 to 2 minutes, turning carefully, until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Let stand 5 minutes before serving. Serve with marinara sauce.

  • Heat oven to 450°F. In medium bowl, stir Bisquick mix and milk until soft dough forms; beat 30 seconds with spoon. Place dough on surface sprinkled with Bisquick mix; gently roll in Bisquick mix to coat. Shape into a ball; knead 10 times.
  • Roll dough into 12x8-inch rectangle, 1/4 inch thick. Cut into 8 (6x2-inch) rectangles. Roll each rectangle around 1 piece of cheese. Pinch edge into roll to seal; seal ends. Roll on surface to completely enclose cheese sticks. On ungreased cookie sheet, place sticks seam sides down.

1 cup meatless spaghetti sauce, divided
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
2 garlic cloves, minced
1-1/2 teaspoons dried rosemary, crushed
1 pound lean ground beef
8 ounces bulk Italian sausage
3 pieces string cheese

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine 1/2 cup spaghetti sauce, egg, bread crumbs, garlic and rosemary. Crumble meat over mixture and mix well. , Press half into a greased 8x4-in. loaf pan.
