Back in the '70s, these were popular in our health food store. When I couldn't find them anymore, I had to make my own.

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 cups roasted unsalted cashews, ground
¼ cup finely chopped dates
¼ cup finely chopped raisins
¼ cup honey

Steps:

  • Mix cashews, dates, raisins, and honey together in a bowl; form into balls, about 1 tablespoon per ball.

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 1/2 lbs fresh large mushrooms
1/2 lb pork sausage
1/2 cup cheddar cheese
1/4 cup seasoned bread crumbs

Steps:

  • Remove stems from mushrooms and dice stems; set aside.
  • In large skillet brown sausage. With slotted spoon remove meat and drain on paper towel. Remove all but 2 tablespoons of meat drippings.
  • In hot drippings over medium heat cook diced stems until tender, about 10 minutes stirring often.
  • Remove skillet from heat and add sausage, cheese and bread crumbs and stir until well blended (will be thick).
  • Allow mixture to cool enough to be handled and fill mushroom caps being careful not to break the mushroom cap.
  • Place in ungreased baking pan and bake for 15 minutes.
  • Note: You may add any additional seasoning to meat you like!
  • I add this mixture to my meat:.
  • 1tsp onion powder.
  • 1 tsp season salt.
  • 2 tbsp of chopped garlic (or 1 tbsp of garlic powder).
  • Dash or 2 of crushed red pepper flakes.
  • Salt and pepper to taste.
  • And I top each cap with a dab of cheese.
  • You can make ahead and keep in fridge until ready to cook.

SUSAN'S VINAIGRETTE COLESLAW

This is the best recipe for a fresh and light coleslaw that goes well with everything. This is the only coleslaw recipe you'll use once you've tried it.

3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
3 tablespoons canola oil
3 tablespoons white sugar
¼ teaspoon dry mustard
¼ teaspoon poppy seeds
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon hot pepper sauce
4 cups shredded green cabbage
2 carrots, shredded

Steps:

  • Whisk apple cider vinegar, canola oil, sugar, dry mustard, poppy seeds, black pepper, salt, and hot pepper sauce in a bowl, stirring until sugar has dissolved.
  • Mix cabbage with carrots in a large salad bowl and pour dressing over slaw. Stir to coat. Refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving.
