Perfectly sweet, salty, and spicy from my favorite calabrian chili paste, these make a seriously great snack for game day - or any day!

2 cups raw mixed nuts (such as almonds, walnut and cashews)
1 tablespoon sugar
2 tablespoons tamari sauce
1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon Calabrian chili paste
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
  • Spread the nuts on a small rimmed baking sheet. Place in the oven and roast for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, in a medium bowl stir together the sugar, tamari, sesame oil and Calabrian chili. Remove the nuts form the oven and, while hot, add to the bowl. Toss well to coat. Spread the nuts back out on the tray and sprinkle with the salt. Roast for another 15 minutes stirring every 5 minutes or until golden brown and fragrant.

2 tablespoons tamari sauce
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
  • Spread the nuts on a small rimmed baking sheet and roast for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, stir together the tamari, sugar, sesame oil and Calabrian chili paste. Add the hot nuts to the bowl and toss well to coat. Spread the nuts back out on the baking sheet and sprinkle with the salt. Roast until golden brown and fragrant, stirring every 5 minutes, about 15 minutes more.

2 cups walnuts or 2 cups hazelnuts
3 tablespoons tamari soy sauce

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Spread the nuts on a baking sheet and bakd for 5 minutes.
  • Drizzle soy sauce on nuts and stir well.
  • Bake for 5 more minutes.
  • Turn off the oven, stir the nuts again, and leave them in the oven for an additional 5 minutes.
  • The nuts will be dry and crisp.
  • Allow nuts to cool.

1 tablespoon high quality tamari
2 teaspoons molasses
Salt and cayenne pepper
1 cup shelled pecan halves

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Combine the tamari and molasses. Season, to taste, with salt and cayenne pepper. Toss with the pecans until they are well coated. Transfer the pecans onto a kitchen towel and allow to briefly drain. Roast the pecans on an icing rack until the pecans are fairly dry and toasted. Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely. Chop the pecans into 1/4-inch pieces.

  • Mix tamari and molasses in bowl. Add salt and cayenne to taste. Add pecans and toss completely until coated. Spread pecans on a paper towel. Drain one minute. Place pecans on a parchment lined cookie sheet and roast in a preheated 350 degree oven until dry and toasted, about 8 minutes. Cool.
