Homamade Salad Seasoning Mix image

Homemade salad seasoning mix that helps you to make your salad dressings in a jiffy. Pack these cute bottles and they make great edible, homemade gifts for the holiday season.

1 tbsp Onion Powder
1 tbsp Garlic Powder
1 tsp Dried Basil
1 tbsp Dried Oregano
2 tbsp Dried Parsley
1 tsp Dried Thyme
1 tsp Black Pepper (coarsely crushed)
1 tsp Sugar ((optional))
1 tsp Lemon Salt or Citric Acid Crystals

Steps:

  • Crush the lemon salt & sugar (if using) in a stone grinder manually. Tip into a small bowl.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients to the bowl and mix well to combine.
  • Store in an airtight, sealed container and refrigerate. Mix may settle, so stir well before each use.

1 tablespoon sesame seed
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon poppy seed
1 teaspoon celery seed
1 ½ teaspoons salt
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 dash cayenne pepper

Steps:

  • Stir the Romano cheese, sesame seed, paprika, poppy seed, celery seed, salt, garlic powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper together in a small bowl until evenly mixed. Store refrigerated in an airtight container.

I'm posting this recipe in response to a request, plus it looked like a very good mix to use in a variety of ways. Plus, making a batch of this could be great for gifts and/or items to sell at a craft fair or bazaar! (from the Make-a-Mix cookbook)

Yield 3 cups Super Salad Seasoning Mix

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 cups grated parmesan cheese
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 cup sesame seeds (toasting may bring out more flavor)
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1 tablespoon instant minced onion
2 tablespoons parsley flakes
1/2 teaspoon dried dill seed
2 tablespoons poppy seeds
1 teaspoon msg (optional)
3 tablespoons celery seeds
2 teaspoons paprika
1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in a small bowl.
  • Mix well.
  • Put into a 1-qt.
  • airtight container.
  • Label.
  • Store in a cool, dry place.
  • Use within 3 to 4 months.
  • This mix can be sprinkled over tossed green salads, baked potatoes, and various breads before toasting.
  • It can also be a garnish for potato salads, macaroni/pasta salads, or egg salads.
  • You can also make a dip with 2 tablespoons.
  • mix and add 1 cup sour cream.
  • NOTE: You could probably add dried red or green pepper for extra color and flavor too, if desired!

Steps:

  • Mix well and grind in spice grinder (we use a dedicated coffee grinder as a spice grinder).

Here's what you need: delicata squash, brussels sprouts, olive oil, McCormick® Salad Supreme seasoning, boneless, skinless chicken breasts, green leaf lettuce, lacinato kale, red apple, toasted pumpkin seeds, candied walnuts, apple cider vinegar, dijon mustard, McCormick® Salad Supreme seasoning, extra virgin olive oil

1 delicata squash, halved lengthwise, seeded, and cut into 1-inch (2.54 cm) pieces
1 lb brussels sprouts, outer leaves and stems removed, halved lengthwise
3 tablespoons olive oil, divided
4 tablespoons McCormick® Salad Supreme seasoning, divided
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 head green leaf lettuce, sliced into 1-inch (2.54 cm) strips
1 bunch lacinato kale, ribs removed and sliced into 1-inch pieces
1 red apple, cored and diced
¼ cup toasted pumpkin seeds
½ cup candied walnuts, roughly chopped
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon dijon mustard
1 teaspoon McCormick® Salad Supreme seasoning
½ cup extra virgin olive oil

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large bowl, toss the delicata squash and Brussels sprouts with 1½ tablespoons olive oil and 2 tablespoons Salad Supreme seasoning until well coated.
  • On a rimmed baking sheet, drizzle the chicken breasts on both sides with the remaining 1½ tablespoons olive oil and season all over with the remaining 2 tablespoons Salad Supreme seasoning. Place the chicken breasts in the center of the baking sheet and arrange the squash and Brussels sprouts all around, turning the Brussels sprouts cut-side down.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (75°C) and the vegetables are tender and browned. Remove from the oven and let cool completely, 10-15 minutes.
  • While the chicken and vegetables cook, make the dressing: In a resealable jar, combine the apple cider vinegar, maple syrup, mustard, Salad Supreme seasoning, and olive oil. Cover the jar and shake vigorously until the dressing is emulsified.
  • Chop the chicken into 1-inch (2.54 cm) pieces, then add to a large bowl with the roasted vegetables, lettuce, kale, apple, pumpkin seeds, and candied pecans. Drizzle with some of the dressing and toss well.
  • Serve with the remaining dressing alongside.
  • Enjoy!
