BEST DAMN SALSA EVER!

Best Damn Salsa Ever! image

This homemade salsa recipe is absolutely irresistible! It's loaded with delicious, vibrant flavor and it comes together in less than 5 minutes.

Provided by Kim Lee

Categories     Appetizer     Dip

Time 5m

Number Of Ingredients 8

4 small jalapeño peppers* ((leave the seeds in for an extra kick))
1/2 onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves
1/4-1/2 cup fresh cilantro
6 tomatoes of varying sizes, chopped
1 1/2 to 2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon sea salt + more to taste
2 tablespoons lemon or lime juice ((about 1/2 lemon, juiced))

Steps:

  • Add all ingredients to the bowl of a food processor. I like to add in the jalapeños, onion and garlic first and then the cilantro and tomatoes, so the tomatoes do not get too liquid-y. Pulse about 10 or so times and until all ingredients are combined and diced, but be sure to stop before the salsa becomes too watery. However, you can pulse longer if you do like your salsa with more liquid.
  • Taste the salsa and add more ingredients as desired. I would advise stirring in the extra ingredients, not pulsing in the food processor. The salsa will become too watery, quickly.
  • Transfer to a bowl and enjoy!
  • I prefer to refrigerate salsa for 1 day prior to serving to allow the flavors to intensify. Salsa will keep for about 1 week in an airtight container or jar in the fridge; however, it's never lasted that long in this household.

Categories     Appetizer

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 9

6 medium size vine ripened tomatoes (stem removed)
2 jalapeno peppers
1 poblano pepper
1 cup green onion (diced)
1 lime (juice of)
1 cup canned diced tomatoes
1 cup chopped fresh cilantro
2 cloves garlic (minced)
1 tbsp chicken bouillon powder or sea salt

Steps:

  • Heat a large skillet to medium high heat. Place tomatoes and peppers in the skillet.
  • Continue to saute, rotating the vegetables occasionally, so several sides begin to blister. See photos above. This will take around 20 minutes. Set aside to cool.
  • Once cooled, chop off the stems of the peppers, and remove the seeds from the jalapeño (you can also keep some seeds for more heat in your salsa). Cut the vegetables into large pieces.
  • Place tomatoes, peppers, onions, lime, and canned tomatoes into a blender and pulse quickly until just mixed (about 5 seconds). Add garlic, cilantro, and bouillon. Pulse for another 15 seconds until well blended but chunky.
  • Place in a large bowl and refrigerate until cooled before serving. Serve with your favorite Mexican dish or with chips.

TEXAS PEPPERS SALSA RECIPE

Texas Peppers Salsa Recipe image

Simple recipe & technique to create a full-flavored salsa which surely will become your go-to salsa recipe. So incredibly good and easy.

Provided by Steven Pennington

Categories     Appetizer

Time 12m

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 28oz Cento Brand Canned Tomatoes (Crushed Tomatoes)
1 10oz RoTel Brand Canned Diced Tomatoes with Green Chiles
1 tsp Chipotles in Adobo Sauce
1 Fresh Hatch Chili
2 Dried Guajillo Peppers
1 Jalapeno Pepper
1 Serrano Pepper
1 Sweet Onion / Vidalia /
1 tsp Salt

Steps:

  • Remove the peel from the onion and cut off the ends, then cut in half lengthwise
  • Slice the serrano and jalapeno in half / I keep the seeds & rib in place. If you do not want it too spicy then please remove the rib and seed
  • The Guajillo peppers, remove the stem and seeds
  • Heat cast-iron skillet to medium-high heat. Once hot, add the onion face down, peppers face down along with the dried Guajillo peppers
  • Pan roast until charred. You want to see charr on both sides of the onion. The onion needs to be charred to reach full flavor. Keep an eye on the dried Guajillo so they do not burn. Once you begin to smell the Guajillo aroma in the air the Guajillo only needs a short amount of time until correctly toasted. The serrano and jalapeno should take on some charr before removing from the heat too.
  • Add all charred ingredients to a blender and add the canned tomatoes and Rotel along with a pinch of salt. Blend until the consistency you enjoy. You can always chop up some fresh tomatoes and onion for more texture.
  • That's it. The flavor will develop overnight
