THE MODERN MARTINI
This lime- and cilantro-infused cocktail will appeal to both Gimlet and Martini drinkers. We like to use Tanqueray for its strong juniper and spice profile.

Number Of Ingredients 5
Steps:
- Combine sugar and 2 tablespoons hot water in a large jar, cover, and shake until sugar is dissolved. Add gin, cilantro, and lime juice (save gin bottle for finished product). Cover and chill 2 days. Strain into a medium bowl; discard cilantro. Pour cilantro-lime gin back into reserved bottle.
- For each cocktail, pour 3 ounces cilantro-lime gin into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Cover; shake until cocktail shaker is frosty, about 30 seconds. Strain into a chilled Martini glass and garnish with lime.
- DO AHEAD: Cilantro-Lime Gin can be made 1 month ahead. Keep chilled.

- Pour a little bit of dry vermouth in a chilled martini glass and swirl to
- coat the inside of the glass. Dispose of excess vermouth. In a shaker full of ice,
- gently swirl or stir the vodka before straining into glass.
- Serving suggestion:Garnish with olives or lemon twist and add rocks if you like
THE MARTINI
Steps:
- Chill a 7-ounce martini glass by filling with ice and water. Fill a professional bartender's glass, or a tall 16-ounce glass, two-thirds full with ice.
- Add gin and vermouth to the bartender's glass, and stir with a long-necked spoon, keeping the spoon close to the side of the glass as you swirl the ice.
- Stir until the glass frosts, about 20 seconds. Empty the martini glass, and strain the contents of the bartender's glass into it. Garnish with olive.
