Bits and Pieces Munch Mix image

Number Of Ingredients 5

3 cups popped popcorn
3 cups Crispix
1/2 cup mixed nuts
3 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons caramel apple dip

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the popcorn, cereal and nuts. In a small saucepan, combine butter and caramel dip; bring to a boil. Remove from the heat. Pour over popcorn mixture and toss to coat. , Transfer to a greased 15x10x1-in. baking pan. Bake at 250° for 45-60 minutes or until golden brown, stirring every 15 minutes. Cool completely. Store in an airtight container.

This is a great finger food for any gathering, especially with the combination of cranberry & ginger! It comes from the fall 2004 issue of the Kraft 'food&family' magazine. The original recipe calls for Planters Cocktail Peanuts.

1/4 cup unsalted butter
1/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 teaspoon ground ginger
4 cups shredded wheat cereal, spoon size
1 cup peanuts
1 cup dried cranberries

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Place butter & sugar in large microwavable bowl, & microwave on high 1-2 minutes or until butter is completely melted when stirred.
  • Add ginger & mix well.
  • Add cereal & toss gently.
  • In a single layer, spread the cereal mixture in a greased 15"x10" baking dish.
  • Bake 15 minutes, then remove from oven.
  • Stir in peanuts & return to oven to bake an additional 10 minutes.
  • Cool completely before adding cranberries. Toss gently.

  • Mix butter, Worcestershire sauce and garlic powder. Drizzle evenly over cereal mixture; toss to coat.
  • Bake 30 to 35 min. or until lightly toasted, stirring after 15 min. Cool. Store in tightly covered container at room temperature.
