Trix Krispies image

Take your Rice Krispie Treats up a notch in fun and flavor. Make these Trix Krispies. Perfect for parties, St. Patrick's Day or Easter Treats!

Provided by Amy

Number Of Ingredients 5

8 cups Trix
7 cups Mini Marshmallows
1/3 cup Butter
1 dash Salt
1 tsp. Vanilla

Steps:

  • Prepare a 9 x 13 pan by greasing it or lining it with tin foil.
  • Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat.
  • Add marshmallows and stir constantly. Be careful not to burn them.
  • When marshmallows are totally melted and smooth and creamy, remove the pan from the heat.
  • Add the vanilla and the salt and mix thoroughly.
  • Add the Trix and stir so that the marshmallows are evenly distributed.
  • Gently press the Trix Krispies into your pan. Don't press too hard or you will break the Trix and make your Trix Krispies hard. (I sprinkled a few more Trix on the top to add some bright color).
  • Let cool before serving.

Variation on rice crispy treats, taken from the back of a Food Lion brand Trix knock-off cereal box. The lemonade really makes it different.

1/4 cup margarine or 1/4 cup butter
35 large marshmallows
2 tablespoons sweetened lemonade drink mix
7 cups Trix cereal

Steps:

  • Butter or spray a 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
  • Melt margarine in a large saucepan over low heat.
  • Add marshmallows, stirring constantly until melted. Remove from heat.
  • Stir in drink mix.
  • Quickly add cereal, stirring until all pieces are evenly coated.
  • Pour into baking pan, cover with wax paper and press cereal mixture down firmly into pan.
  • Allow to cool, remove wax paper and cut into squares.
  • Enjoy!
