Steps:
- In a medium bowl, cream the butter with the white sugar and brown sugar. Stir in the eggs and vanilla. Sift together the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, cinnamon and salt; stir into the creamed mixture. Finally, mix in the nuts. Divide dough into 3 equal parts, shape each piece into a log about 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Wrap logs in wax paper and chill for 3 hours or overnight.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Cut dough logs into 1/4 inch slices and place them on an unprepared cookie sheet. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, until light brown.

This recipe was originally in the LA Times. The story is that they are so good that they get sucked up like a vacuum cleaner! My neighbor brought some over to us and they were so rich, delicious and different, that I had to have the recipe. You make them like a bar cookie.

Steps:
- In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, margarine and 1 egg until moistened.
- Pat mixture into a 15 x 10-inch greased jelly roll pan.
- Bake at 350° for 10 minutes.
- Remove and cool while you make the top layer.
- In large bowl, beat 2 eggs lightly.
- Beat in cream cheese and powdered sugar.
- Add coconut and nuts.
- Spread mixture evenly over curst in pan.
- Bake at 325° for 40-50 minutes or until golden.
- Cool in pan on a rack to room temperature.
- Cut into small squares or bars.

VACUUM CLEANER BAR COOKIES
This is a great recipe given to me by a man at work. His wife is a great cook. These little bar cookies are so yummy and easy to make. Cookies are very rich so I cut into small pieces. They are so good that they will be gone in a flash (i.e. sucked up...as in vacuum cleaner). Thank you Pam & Jay for sharing this recipe with me!

- Preheat oven to 325.
- Combine cake mix, oleo, and 1 egg.
- Press into bottom of a 10x15 pan.
- Beat remaining eggs. Add cream cheese and powered sugar. Mix well.
- Stir in coconut and nuts.
- Spread over crust.
- Bake at 325 for 40-45 minutes until golden brown.
- Cut into squares.
