DIRTY BANANA RECIPE

Cold, creamy, and chocolatey, the Dirty Banana is a drink that everyone loves.

2 cups ice
1/2 ounce Gosling's dark rum
1 ounce Kahlua
1 ounce Patron XO Cafe Liqueur
1/4 cup heavy cream
2-3 tablespoons chocolate syrup
1/2 large banana
Whipped cream and cocoa powder for topping

Steps:

  • Combine ice, dark rum, Kahlua, cafe liqueur, heavy cream, chocolate syrup, and banana in a blender.
  • Blend until thick and creamy. Pour into 2 small glasses or 1 large glass.
  • Top with whipped cream before serving. Sprinkle lightly with cocoa powder, if desired.

4 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
3 fluid ounces banana liqueur
4 medium bananas, peeled
4 fluid ounces coffee-flavored liqueur (such as Kahlua®)
4 scoops vanilla ice cream

Steps:

  • Melt butter in a medium skillet over low heat. Add brown sugar and cinnamon; stir frequently and cook until sugar dissolves and sauce is thick, about 3 minutes. Add banana liqueur.
  • Slice bananas in half lengthwise and gently place in the skillet. Cook for 1 minute, then gently turn and cook until brown and soft, about 1 to 2 minutes more.
  • Add coffee-flavored liqueur and cook until hot, 1 to 2 minutes. Tip the skillet slightly and ignite the rum with a lighter. Remove skillet from the heat.
  • Scoop ice cream into 4 bowls. Add a banana to each bowl and pour warm sauce over top. Serve immediately.

3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
3/4 cup Kahlua or other coffee flavored liquor
12 tablespoons (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, cut into tablespoons
6 ripe bananas, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch thick rounds
Ground cinnamon, to taste
Vanilla ice cream

Steps:

  • Build a charcoal fire in an outdoor grill and let burn until the coals are covered with white ash. Let the fire burn down to medium-hot (you should be able to hold your hand at grate level for 3 seconds). In a gas grill, preheat to Medium.
  • Tear off six 12-inch squares of aluminum foil. Fold one foil square in half. On the bottom half, place 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 2 tablespoons Kahlua, 2 tablespoons butter, and 1 banana. Sprinkle with a pinch of cinnamon. Fold the foil over to form a packet, crimping the open edges to seal. Repeat with the remaining ingredients. The packets can be prepared up to 1 hour ahead and kept at room temperature.
  • Grill the packets until the sugar, Kahlua, and butter are boiling, 5 to 7 minutes. Open the packets, pour over bowls of ice cream and serve immediately.

2 ripe bananas, sliced
3/4 cup kahlua coffee-flavored liqueur
1 (8 ounce) container cool whip frozen non-dairy topping ("Lite" is okay to use)
3 cups crushed ice

Steps:

  • Place bananas and Kahlua in blender.
  • Cut frozen Cool Whip into chunks and add to the blender.
  • Blend at high speed until smooth.
  • Add half the crushed ice and blend again.
  • Add the remainder of the ice and blend until smooth.
  • Serve immediately.
  • **Thiscan also be frozen for several hours and served a a soft-serve style ice cream.

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a standard 9X5 inch loaf pan with nonstick baking spray. Set aside.
  • Place the granulated sugar and softened butter in the bowl of an electric mixer. Beat on high to cream, until the mixture is light and fluffy. Then scrape the bowl and mix in the bananas and eggs. With the mixer on low, slowly add the flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder. Then scrape the bowl again and mix in the shredded coconut.
  • Scoop the batter into the loaf pan. Bake for 45-60 minutes, until a wooden skewer inserted deep into the center comes out clean. Allow the banana bread loaf to cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then flip it out onto a cooling rack set over a piece of wax paper.
  • While the loaf is cooling in the pan, whisk the powdered sugar and Kahlua together until very smooth. Once you've flipped the loaf out of the pan, poke holes in the the top of the loaf with a wooden skewer to let the Kahlua glaze seep down inside. Then pour the glaze over the top of the loaf. You can use the wax paper to pour the drippings back over the loaf for an extra glaze coating, if you like. Allow the glaze to dry before cutting.
