Recipe video above. This one is all about the fabulous Asian Dressing and the slaw-type shape of the ingredients. Don't skip the crunchy noodles, they totally make this! Alternative Dressing: standby Asian Sesame Dressing (keeps for weeks).

2 tbsp light soy sauce ((Note 1))
3 tbsp rice vinegar ((aka rice wine vinegar, or use cider vinegar))
1 tbsp sesame oil (toasted)
2 tbsp grapeseed oil ((or canola or any other neutral flavored oil))
1 tsp sugar
1 1/2 tsp fresh ginger (, grated or very finely chopped)
1 garlic clove (, minced)
1/2 tsp black pepper
4 cups Chinese cabbage ((Nappa Cabbage), finely shredded (Note 2))
1 1/2 cups red cabbage (, finely shredded)
1 cup carrot (, finely julienned (see video))
2 cups chicken (, shredded)
1/2 cup shallots / scallions (, finely sliced on the diagonal)
1/2 to 1 cup crunchy noodles ((I use Chang's) (Note 3))
1 - 2 tsp sesame seeds

Steps:

  • Combine the Dressing ingredients in a jar and shake. Set aside for 10 minutes or so for the flavours to meld.
  • Place the Salad ingredients together in a large bowl along with half the crunchy noodles. Drizzle over dressing then toss. (Note 4)
  • Divide between serving bowls. Top with more crunchy noodles and a good sprinkle of sesame seeds. Serve immediately!

2 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/4 cup oil
3 -4 peeled garlic cloves
1/2 lb mushroom, sliced
1 (6 ounce) can water chestnuts, sliced
1 bunch green onion, including tops cut in 2 inch lengths
1 cup diagonally sliced celery
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon msg
2 cups shredded lettuce
1/4 cup pimiento, drained and chopped

Steps:

  • With scissors or knife cut chicken into thin strips. Roll in cornstarch, set aside. Heat oil, Add garlic and stir until browned. Discard garlic.
  • Add chicken to hot garlic oil and turn until browned. Add mushrooms, chestnuts, onions, celery and cook until tender.
  • Add soy sauce and monosodium glutamate until heated.
  • Add lettuce and pimentos, toss lightly. Serve with rice.

Steps:

  • Combine first 9 ingredients in a small bowl, stirring well. Toss cabbage and lettuce with half of dressing mixture in a large shallow bowl. SPrinkle walnuts over cabbage mixture.
  • Combine chicken and 3 tablespoons remaining dressing mixture in a skillet over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until chicken is thoroughly heated. Toss hot chicken mixture and grape halves with cabbage mixture. Serve salad warm with remaining dressing.

2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil, divided
1 pound skinless, boneless chicken breasts
1/2 head napa cabbage, thinly shredded (about 6 cups)
1/4 head red cabbage, shredded (about 2 cups)
1 large carrot, shredded (about 2 cups)
3 scallions, trimmed and thinly sliced, greens included (about 1/2 cup)
1 (8-ounce) can sliced water chestnuts
1 (11-ounce) can Mandarin oranges in water, drained
1/3 cup rice wine vinegar
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon minced ginger
2 tablespoons canola oil
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons chili-garlic sauce or chili sauce
1/4 cup sliced almonds, toasted

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Combine 1 tablespoon soy sauce and 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil and brush onto chicken breasts. Arrange in a baking dish and bake until juices run clear, about 13 to15 minutes. Remove from oven, cool completely, and cut into 1/4-inch slices.
  • In a large bowl, combine Napa cabbage, red cabbage, carrot, scallions, water chestnuts, Mandarin orange and sliced chicken. 4 chicken thighs, skin on
2 chicken breasts, skin on
2 teaspoons red-wine vinegar
3 tablespoons orange juice
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
3 teaspoons chopped tarragon

Pinch Aleppo pepper
3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, more for greens
1/4 cup whole-milk yogurt
1 romaine heart in 2-inch pieces
2 handfuls red-leaf lettuce
20 mint leaves
8 icicle radishes, thinly sliced
1/2 pound green beans, blanched

Steps:

  • Fill a large pan with water and season with salt. Add garlic; bring to boil. Place chicken in water and simmer gently until cooked through, 20 minutes. Transfer to plate.

4 cups diced celery
1 can (10-1/2 ounces) condensed cream of chicken soup, undiluted
2 cups mayonnaise
2 cups sour cream
2 cans (8 ounces each) water chestnuts, drained
1 can (8 ounces) mushroom stems and pieces, drained
1 cup slivered almonds
2 tablespoons chopped onion
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 teaspoons salt

Steps:

1 cup sweet and sour sauce
1 pinch ground ginger
6 cups romaine lettuce - torn, washed and dried
1 cup fresh bean sprouts
4 boneless chicken breast halves, cooked and shredded
½ cup cornflakes cereal
¼ cup toasted sliced almonds
1 pinch ground black pepper
2 tablespoons sesame seeds

Steps:

  • Pour sweet and sour sauce into a large bowl. Sprinkle ground ginger into the bowl and mix it thoroughly with the sauce.
  • Place romaine lettuce and bean sprouts into the bowl of sauce and toss it a few times.
  • Add the shredded chicken to the bowl and toss it thoroughly with the lettuce and bean sprouts.
