Fruit Kebabs image

Number Of Ingredients 13

6 firm apricots
4 slightly firm peaches
4, 1-inch pineapple slices
4 tangerines
4 firm bananas
4 apples
3 Tbs. lemon juice
2/3 cup unsalted butter
1 cup powdered sugar
3 Tbs. Grand Marnier
1-2 Tbs. orange juice
2 Tbs. grated orange rind
1/2 cup heavy cream

Steps:

  • Cut apricots in half and remove pits. Cut peaches in eighths (or quarters, depending on size). Cut pineapple in chunks. Peel tangerine and cut in quarters. Peel bananas and cut into 1-inch chunks. Peel apples and cut into eighths. Put apples, peaches and bananas in bowl with lemon juice and coat thoroughly. Place a mixture of fruits on each skewer.
  • To make sauce, melt butter, sugar, orange juice and orange rind in small sauce pan and stir until melted and then add Grand Marnier. Grill kebabs over medium heat, basting frequently. Combine remaining sauce with 1/2 cup cream and serve with hot kebabs.

1 cup strawberries (tops cut off)
1 cup cantaloupe (cubed)
1 cup pineapple (cubed)
1/2 cup Kiwi (peeled and sliced)
1/2 cup red grapes
1/2 cup blackberries

Steps:

  • Prepare all fruit by washing and cutting or cubing.
  • Add fruit onto skewers in rainbow order, piercing through the sharp side. Strawberries, cantaloupe, pineapple, kiwis, red grapes and blackberries.
  • Place on platter and cover with Saran wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve.

This recipe is light and healthy. Great for get togethers and whats even better is that is great for all ages and all lifestyles, whether your dieting or not. The possibilities are endless, but you could use kiwi, mango, blueberries, raspberries, melons (i.e cantaloupe, watermelons) etc.

3 bananas (cut into 1 inch chunks)
2 cups pineapple chunks (30-40 pieces)
30 -40 strawberries
30 -40 seedless grapes
1/2 cup orange juice
10 wooden skewers
apple jelly (optional)

Steps:

  • Put the cut up bananas in a medium bowl. Combine the orange juice with the bananas and gently toss a couple of times to coat bananas.
  • This method should keep bananas from turning brown.
  • Take a wooden skewer and thread your fruit on.
  • *To enhance the sweetness of the strawberries, instead of using whole strawberries, cut each one in half place in a medium bowl and add a wee bit of sugar and toss around.
  • Method 2.
  • Add about 5 large tbsp of apple jelly to a small saucepan and stir over a medium jelly, until it because less lumpy, let cool.
  • Slice bananas and coat with apple jelly.
  • Slice strawberries and cut in half and coat with either sugar or apple jelly.
  • Slice the rest of the fruit and set aside.
  • Stick the fruit on the skewers.
  • Enjoy!

1 strawberry
1 apple
1/2 banana
1/2 kiwi fruit
1/2 orange
1/2 tangerine
1/4 mango
8 ounces cut pineapple
9 ounces cut watermelon

Steps:

  • Great tasting easy to make fruit skewers for kids. A great alternative to chips and soda, these fruit kebabs can be made with most any fruit you can cut up and skewer. Here is our favorite Fruit Kabob Recipe.

  • 1. Cut oranges, pineapple and apples into cubes. Cut the Watermelon either into cubes or scoop out melon balls. Start by putting the Marshmallow on the skewer, then add fruit on top of it to form a fresh fruit kebab.
  • 2. - some fruit such as pineapple, star fruit or banana can also be grilled on the bar-b-q. Soak the wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes before grilling. Just brush the fruit with a marinade of butter and lemon juice before grilling. Grill over medium heat, a few minutes on each side.
