Garlic Prawns image

This is a great easy prawn marinade, they are great on the BBQ, we put them out as appetizers but they can also be a main course. I've also sauteed them with the marinade and used the sauce with pasta or just lapped it up with French bread! ENJOY.

½ cup olive oil
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 lemon, juiced
1 orange, juiced
1 teaspoon dried basil, or to taste
2 tablespoons white wine
30 tiger prawns, peeled and deveined

Steps:

  • In a glass dish, mix together the olive oil, mustard, garlic, lemon juice, orange juice, basil and white wine. Add the prawns, and stir to coat. Cover, and let marinate for 1 hour.
  • Heat an outdoor grill to high heat.
  • Thread prawns onto skewers. Grill for 3 to 5 minutes, turning once, until pink.
  • If desired, reserve marinade; transfer to a saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Serve with prawns.

There's nothing quite like a traditional garlic prawn. Sometimes you don't need all the bells and whistles and this simple but satisfying recipe proves it.

½ c olive oil
3 cloves garlic
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
1 orange, juiced
1 lemon, juiced
30 tiger prawns
1 tsp dried basil

Steps:

  • Combine garlic, lemon juice, orange juice, dijon mustard, basil, olive oil, and white wine in a bowl. Once mixed, toss in your prawns and coat them until they're fully covered. Cover with plastic wrap and let marinate for an hour.
  • Once marinated, turn on your grill to high heat.
  • Put your prawns on skewers and grill for 3-5 minutes, turning once throughout the process. Your prawns will be ready when they turn pink.
  • If you want to use your marinade as a sauce, transfer it to a pot and boil. Let simmer for five minutes and serve.

1 cup butter, divided
1 medium head garlic, peeled and minced
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
2 pounds large prawns - peeled, deveined and butterflied
1 medium head garlic, peeled and minced
¼ cup chopped fresh parsley

Steps:

  • Melt 1/2 cup butter in a saucepan over low heat. Add 1 minced head of garlic and saute for 2 to 3 minutes until soft. Stir in the tomatoes and bring to a simmer. Continue cooking until reduced to a thick paste, about 60 to 90 minutes.
  • In a separate saucepan, melt remaining 1/2 cup butter in a saucepan over low heat. Saute remaining garlic for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Toss prawns in garlic butter sauce and place on a baking sheet. Broil until pink, do not overcook.
  • Spread the warm tomato mixture onto serving plates. Place prawns on top of tomato sauce and sprinkle with chopped parsley.

vegetable oil cooking spray, for the wok
1/2 cup onion, minced
1/2 cup sweet red pepper, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon coriander
1/2 teaspoon curry
1 cup light coconut milk
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
24 large prawns, peeled,heads on
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
4 cups brown rice, cooked and kept hot

Steps:

  • Heat wok, medium heat,add onions, red pepper& garlic.
  • Stir fry for 3 minutes.
  • Add cumin, coriander& curry, cook 1 minute more.
  • Add coconut milk, sugar& pepperflakes, bring to a boil& reduce heat,simmer uncovered for about 2 minutes Add prawns& cook for about 3 minutes or until the meat is snow white and the prawns are pink Meanwhile mix the the cornstarch with a tbsp water and stir into the prawns cook for appr 1 minute Stir in the cilantro.
  • Remove from heat and serve over the hot brown rice.
