Steps:
- In a large bowl, whisk together 1 1/2 cups flour, the sugar, salt, and yeast. Combine the milk, water, and butter in a saucepan and heat until very warm. The butter doesn't need to melt.
- Gradually add the liquid to the dry ingredients and mix at medium speed for 2 minutes; the mixture will be quite wet. Add another 1/2 cup flour and beat at high speed for 2 minutes. The mixture will begin to get thicker.
- Stir in enough of the remaining flour so that you have a soft dough. Knead on a lightly floured board for 5 minutes.
- Put back into the mixing bowl after you've scraped it out, cover and let rise for 15 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Turn the dough out onto your board and cut it into 24 equal pieces; each piece should weigh about 1 1/2 ounces. Shape into rolls by rolling them on the board with your cupped fingers.
- Place the rolls into two greased 9 inch round cake pans. Let rise for 20 minutes, until they look puffy. For snowflake rolls, sprinkle the tops with flour just before baking.
- Bake 15 to 18 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool slightly. Remove from pan.
MY FAVORITE SNOWFLAKE ROLLS
These are my favorite rolls. A snow flake roll is a light and airy roll that has a slight chew to it. Melt some butter in the middle of these warm. They are so good. My daughter and I could consume 3-4 at a meal. Quick to make for a yeast roll. I used to buy these at a local bakery until I discovered how easy they were to make....

60 MINUTE DINNER ROLLS
These are some of the best dinner rolls I've made! The recipe came from a cookbook that my hometown puts out called High Altitude Country Kitched Vol.1 Oct.1995 thru July 1999. This recipe can give you homemade rolls in just 60 minutes!!! What could be better than freshly baked hot rolls to compliment a dinner?! These are wonderful hot right out of the oven or cold the next day for sandwiches! Hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

- In a large bowl, stir together flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Set aside. Measure out milk and set aside.
- In a small microwavable bowl, measure out butter. Heat in microwave on 50% power for 15 second intervals, stirring after each until butter has just melted. Add milk. The goal is for your liquids to be lukewarm--if they are too hot, they will kill the yeast. So when you measure the water, add warm or cool water based on how warm your butter/milk mixture is. Stir together. If the mixture is still too hot, then set aside until lukewarm.
- When liquids mixture is lukewarm, pour over flour mixture and add egg to the bowl. Stir together until dough comes together. Cover your hands with flour and knead the dough in the bowl for 3-5 minutes, until the dough is no longer sticky. Add flour as needed to keep the dough from sticking to your hands. I probably added about 1/4-1/3 cup flour. (Alternatively, you can use a dough hook on your stand mixer to knead the dough for 3-5 minutes!) Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and set aside to rest while you prepare the filling.
