1 cup okra (frozen or fresh; if using fresh, cut into the desired size)
1 egg
2 tbsp water
Cooking oil spray
1 1/4 Cup Plain bread crumbs or gluten-free bread crumbs will work fine as well. (add more if needed)
1 tbsp. garlic (minced)
2 tbsp. parsley (fresh and finely chopped (dried parsley will work as well))
2 tbsp. grated parmesan cheese
1 tsp. dried oregano
½ tsp. kosher salt
½ tsp. ground black pepper
1 tsp. paprika

Steps:

  • Beat eggs and water. Set aside. In a separate bowl, add garlic and dried herbs including salt and pepper. Mix well. Set aside.
  • Add the okra to the egg mixture, then to the breading mixture. Place the breaded okra in the air fryer basket, lightly spray with cooking oil, then cook for 10 minutes on 380 degrees, or until desired crispiness is reached.
  • Serve warm and enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce.

9 ounces (250g) Okra
3/4 cup (50g) Gluten Free panko breadcrumbs
1 tsp Smoked paprika
1 tsp Dried oregano
1/2 tsp Ground coriander
Salt
1 Egg

Steps:

  • Preheat the air fryer to 350 F / 180 C.
  • Wash the okra and pat dry.
  • Remove the ends of the okra, but do not cut into it.
  • In a bowl, beat the egg.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the panko breadcrumbs, paprika, oregano, coriander and salt.
  • Then, dip the okra into the egg wash and let some of the excess drip off.
  • next dip the okra into the panko mixture, turning over until well coated. Set coated okra aside on a tray or plate and continue until done.
  • Place okra in a single layer inside the air fryer basket and cook for 5-6 mins per side. Use tongs to turn and cook for an additional 5-6 mins until done (bigger and tougher okra may take a little longer).

1/2 cup (about 2 7/8 oz.) fine yellow cornmeal
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon kosher salt, divided
1 large egg, lightly beaten
2 teaspoons water
8 ounces fresh okra, cut into 1/2-in.-thick rounds
Cooking spray
1/2 cup bottled white barbecue sauce

Steps:

  • Stir together cornmeal, flour, garlic powder, paprika, and 1/2 teaspoon of the salt in a shallow dish. Whisk together egg and water in a separate shallow dish.
  • Preheat air fryer to 400°F for 3 minutes. Meanwhile, dip half of the okra in egg mixture; remove okra, letting excess drip off, and transfer to cornmeal mixture, tossing to fully coat. Transfer coated okra to a plate. Repeat process using remaining okra.
  • Lightly coat air fry basket with cooking spray. Add okra to basket in a single layer; coat generously with cooking spray. Cook until golden brown and crispy, 12 to 14 minutes, tossing okra and coating with additional cooking spray halfway through cook time.
  • Remove okra from basket; sprinkle evenly with remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt. Serve immediately with barbecue sauce.

This Southern Air Fryer Okra recipe is super easy to make. It is crispy and delicious. Much healthier than its fried version. Perfect as a side or a snak.

1/2 pound / 8 oz Okra, fresh (see notes)
1/2 cup Corn Meal, fine (see notes)
1/4 cup All purpose flour (see notes)
1 tbsp Cajun seasoning (or to taste, see notes for options)
Few sprays Oil Spray
1 large Egg
2 tsp Water
1/4 cup Ranch Dressing
1-2 tbsp Buffalo Sauce (adjust to taste)

Steps:

  • Wash okra in Kitchen Colander and pat dry it. Remove the caps and tails of the okra. Cut all the okra into 1/2 to 1 inch piece. Keep in a Bowl and Set aside.
  • TIP : To avoid sliminess of the fresh okra, I normally cut it in advance and let air-dry it for few hrs.
  • Preheat Air fryer at 390*F for 5 minutes.
  • Meanwhile Take 3 Mixing Bowls. In 1st bowl, add EGG + 2 tsp Water and mix both lightly. In 2nd bowl, add Corn Meal + All Purpose flour + Cajun Seasoning. Mix well with a fork.
  • Make an assembly line and place the bowl with egg + bowl with dry flour mixture + bowl with cut okra in a line.
  • Now toss okra into the egg mixture, then transfer the okra in batches to the flour cornmeal mixture. Lightly shake off excess flour and transfer to lightly greased Air Fryer Basket.
  • Spray gently with Cooking Spray on top of the breaded okra. Air fry for 15 minutes until golden, shaking the basket twice during cooking. Spray with more oil as needed so all the floury dry spots are covered.
  • Serve it warm with Spicy Ranch or Buffalo Ranch Dip.
  • Mix Ranch dressing & Buffalo sauce till it comes together. DONE!
  • You will follow the exact instructions as above to make air fryer fried okra in Air fryer lid.

1 cup cornmeal
¼ cup all-purpose flour
cooking spray

Steps:

  • Place egg in a shallow dish and beat; gently stir in sliced okra.
  • Combine cornmeal and flour in a gallon-size resealable plastic bag. Drop 5 slices of okra in the cornmeal mixture, zip the bag, and shake. Remove breaded okra to a plate. Repeat with remaining okra slices.
  • Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Place 1/2 the breaded okra slices in the basket of the air fryer and spray with cooking spray. Cook 4 minutes.
