ALL AMERICAN GRILLED BURGER

All American Grilled Burger image

Sometimes you just need a good burger and this is one of my go-to recipes for a classic, American-Style Grilled Cheeseburger.

Provided by Malcom Reed

Number Of Ingredients 7

1lb 80/20 ground chuck
1 teaspoon Killer Hogs AP Seasoning
1 Tablespoon Killer Hogs Steak Rub
4 pats of salted butter
8 strips of bacon cooked
4 sesame seed hamburger buns - toasted
Lettuce, sliced tomatoes, Pickles, Mayo, and Mustard

Steps:

  • Prepare Weber kettle style grill for 2 zone cooking - hot coals on one side and cool zone on the opposite side.
  • Season the ground chuck with AP Seasoning and divide into 4 portions forming each into a ball. Place each ball of ground chuck on a burger press (or form into a patty by hand)
  • Season each burger patty with steak seasoning on both sides. Make an indention in the center of each patty and place a pat of butter in the depressions.
  • Place the burgers on the grill grate on the cool side at first. After 3 minutes move them a little closer to the fire but not directly over. Flip each patty after 6 minutes and repeat the process until the reach your desired doneness (mine is medium which is about 12 total min cook time)
  • Place a slice of cheese over each burger right at the end and let it melt for 30 seconds before removing the burgers from the grill.
  • To build the burgers start with a toasted sesame see bun slathered with mayo and a little mustard on the bottom bun. Add your favorite burger toppings mine are: lettuce, sliced tomato, and hamburger style dill pickle slices. Place the burger patty on top and finally the top half of the bun slathered with a little extra mayo.

ALL-AMERICAN GRILLED BURGER

All-American Grilled Burger image

Here's your blueprint for a crowd-pleasing backyard barbecue burger complete with special sauce. The sauce is no secret here: Crunchy iceberg lettuce and pickles provide crunch and tang, all mixed in with ketchup, mustard, and a little hot sauce for kick. We like the texture whole-grain mustard adds to the sauce, but creamy Dijon will work just as well. Don't overwork the beef as you form the patties so the burgers stay moist and juicy.

Provided by Adam Hickman

Time 20m

Yield Serves 4 (serving size: 1 burger)

Number Of Ingredients 13

1/4 cup finely chopped iceberg lettuce
3 tablespoons unsalted ketchup
3 tablespoons finely chopped reduced-sodium dill pickle (about 1 1/2 spears)
1 tablespoon grainy mustard
1 teaspoon hot sauce
1 pound 90% lean ground sirloin
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Cooking spray
4 iceberg lettuce leaves
4 (1.8-oz.) sesame seed hamburger buns, lightly toasted
4 (1/4-in.-thick) heirloom tomato slices
4 thin white onion rings

Steps:

  • Preheat grill to medium-high (about 450°F). Combine first 5 ingredients in a small bowl.
  • Gently shape ground sirloin into 4 (4-inch-wide) patties. Sprinkle evenly with salt and pepper. Coat grill grate with cooking spray. Place patties on grate; grill 4 minutes on each side or to desired degree of doneness.
  • Place 1 lettuce leaf on bottom half of each bun. Top each with about 2 1/2 tablespoons sauce, 1 patty, 1 tomato slice, and 1 onion ring. Cover with top halves of buns.
