Steps:
- Heat oven to 400°F.
- Combine butter, sugar and almond extract in bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Add all remaining cookie ingredients; beat at low speed until well mixed.
- Shape rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into 1-inch balls. Place 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten balls to 1/4 inch thick with bottom of buttered glass dipped in sugar. Bake 6-8 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cool completely.
- Combine chocolate chips and shortening in small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on Medium (50% power) 1 minute; stir. Continue microwaving, stirring every 15 seconds, until mixture is melted and smooth. Drizzle or pipe chocolate onto cookies making tree design, if desired.

- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- Beat shortening, almond butter, brown sugar, and white sugar in a bowl until smooth. Combine hot water, baking soda, and salt together in another bowl; stir into almond butter mixture until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla extract; beat until blended. Gradually stir in flour until dough is just blended.
- Roll the dough into walnut-sized balls and place 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Press and flatten balls with a fork to create a crosshatch pattern.
- Bake in preheated oven until golden brown, 8 to 12 minutes.

- Combine 1 cup butter, sugar and egg in large mixer bowl. Beat at medium speed, until creamy. Add milk and 1 teaspoon almond extract. Continue beating, scraping bowl often, until well mixed. Reduce speed to low. Add flour and baking powder; beat, scraping bowl often, until well mixed.
- Divide dough into thirds. Shape each third into a ball. Wrap each in plastic food wrap; flatten slightly. Refrigerate 2-3 hours or until firm.
- Heat oven to 400°F.
- Roll out dough on lightly floured surface, one-third at a time (keeping remaining dough refrigerated), to 1/8 to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut with cookie cutters. Place 1 inch apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 6-10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cool completely.
- Combine powdered sugar, water, 1 tablespoon butter, corn syrup and 1/2 teaspoon almond extract in bowl; mix until powdered sugar is moistened. Beat at medium speed until smooth, adding additional water if necessary, to reach desired glazing consistency. Tint with food color, if desired.
- Glaze cooled cookies. Add decorator candies, if desired. Let stand until glaze is hardened (6 hours or overnight).

- Beat together butter, sugars, corn syrup, vanilla, and almond extract in a large bowl with an electric mixer at medium-high speed (use paddle attachment if you have a stand mixer) until pale and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Reduce speed to low, then add flour mixture and mix just until a dough begins to form. Add almonds and mix just until incorporated. Form dough into a rectangular log (about 12 inches long, 2 inches wide, and 3/4 inch thick). Wrap in wax paper and chill until firm, about 2 hours.
- Put oven rack in middle position and preheat oven to 325°F. Butter a large baking sheet.
- Cut half of log into 1/8-inch-thick slices with a thin sharp knife and arrange 3/4 inch apart on baking sheet. (Keep remaining dough chilled.)
- Bake cookies until golden, about 12 minutes, then transfer with a thin metal spatula to a rack to cool. Repeat with remaining dough.

- Preheat oven to 350* and line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
- Beat together almond butter and sugar in a large bowl with an electric mixer until smooth.
- Add beaten egg and baking soda to almond butter mixture and beat until well combined.
- Roll 1 teaspoon of dough into a ball and roll in sugar then place on cookie sheet.

- Heat oven to 375°F.
- In a large bowl, combine 1/2 cup sugar, brown sugar, and butter.
- Beat until fluffy.
- Add almond butter, almond and vanilla extract and egg, mix well.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt.
- Mix dry ingredients together with a fork or wire whisk.
