This Big Mac salad is the healthier version of a beloved classic! Hearty ground beef, crisp lettuce, and a creamy Big Mac dressing will make this your new favorite salad recipe. This recipe comes together in under 20 minutes, that's faster than a trip to your local drive-through!

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound ground beef (see Notes)
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
6 cups romaine lettuce (chopped, see Notes)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
½ cup tomatoes (chopped)
½ cup dill pickles (sliced)
½ cup onions (sliced)
½ cup mayonnaise (see Notes)
2 tablespoons dill pickle relish
1 tablespoon ketchup (see Notes)
2 teaspoons mustard (see Notes)
1 ½ tablespoons apple cider vinegar (see Notes)
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon smoked paprika
¼ teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Add olive oil to large skillet over medium heat. Once oil is hot, add in ground beef, salt and pepper. Cook and crumble until no longer pink, about 7-10 minutes.
  • While beef cooks, add all dressing ingredients to small bowl and mix together. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  • Add romaine lettuce, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped tomatoes, dill pickles, onions and cooked ground beef to large salad bowl. Top salad with dressing and serve.

Great for Low Carbers who miss the tasty one of a kind Big Mac. Drop the bread, go easy on the thousand island dressing (I use Wishbone), and put these few items in a bowl for an easy yummy lunch or dinner which is just as satisfying, and actually more filling, than the one and only! I always make this salad the day after I grill burgers which makes it super easy for me. Feel free to add toasted sesame seeds to add a little extra to the salad.

1/3 lb ground beef
1 slice American cheese
1 1/2 cups iceberg lettuce
1 green onion
2 tablespoons thousand island dressing
toasted sesame seeds (optional)

Steps:

  • Form the ground beef into a patty and grill or fry to your liking, about 8 minutes on each side.
  • Add the cheese to the burger and finishing cooking until melted.
  • Tear up the lettuce in put in a good sized salad bowl.
  • Chop the whole green onion over the lettuce; I use kitchen scissors for ease.
  • Top with the salad dressing and sprinkle with sesame seeds if using.

1 head lettuce, torn
1 large tomato, sliced
1 large onion, sliced
½ cup dill pickle slices
2 tablespoons butter, melted
½ round loaf sourdough bread, cubed
¼ cup olive oil
¼ cup pickle juice
1 teaspoon mustard
1 teaspoon ketchup
1 teaspoon grill seasoning
1 pound ground beef
1 teaspoon grill seasoning
2 cups shredded American cheese

Steps:

  • Combine lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle slices in a large bowl for salad. Set aside
  • Heat butter in a large skillet and toss bread cubes in until lightly browned, 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Combine olive oil, pickle juice, mustard, ketchup, and grill seasoning in a lidded jar for dressing. Close and shake until well combined. Set aside.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season ground beef with grill seasoning and add to the hot skillet. Cook and stir until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes. Drain and discard grease. Add cheese and stir into the beef until melted.
  • Toss salad with the dressing just before serving. Put salad on plates and top with ground beef mixture and croutons.

Steps:

  • Mix mayonnaise, pickle relish, ketchup, minced onion, olive oil, sugar, vinegar, lemon juice, dry mustard, paprika, salt, and pepper in a bowl to make sauce. Refrigerate until flavors combine, at least 30 minutes.
  • Preheat a large grill pan over medium heat. Cook hamburger patties, turning occasionally, until browned, 10 to 15 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 160 degrees F (71 degrees C). Chop patties into bite-sized pieces.
