Andes® Peppermint Hot Chocolate image

After dinner, when you're craving a touch of something sweet, a cup of decadent peppermint cocoa is a real treat. We didn't mean to rhyme just then; we're just really excited about this hot cocoa. We created the subtle, minty flavor found in this creamy drink using our other favorite after-dinner treat, the Andes® mint. Indulge away.

1 cup heavy whipping cream
3 tablespoons powdered sugar
3/4 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 tablespoons unsweetened dark baking cocoa
2 1/2 cups milk
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
1/4 cup chopped bittersweet chocolate (1.5 oz)
11 Andes® crème de menthe mints, unwrapped and chopped (1/3 cup)

Steps:

  • In chilled medium bowl, beat Topping ingredients with electric mixer on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
  • In 2-quart saucepan, mix granulated sugar and baking cocoa. Using whisk, gradually stir in milk and whipping cream until well blended.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until thoroughly heated (do not boil). Remove from heat.
  • Add chocolate and 1/4 cup of the mints; stir constantly with whisk until chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth.
  • To serve, divide hot chocolate among 4 mugs. Top each with topping; garnish with remaining mints. Serve immediately.

Homemade Peppermint Hot Chocolate Recipe image

Rich and creamy hot chocolate that is flavored with peppermint. Top with whipped cream or crushed candy canes for a delicious cold weather drink!

3 cups whole milk
1/4 cup powdered milk
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3 tbsp powdered sugar
1/2 tsp peppermint extract
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan over medium low heat, warm the 3 cups milk.
  • Meanwhile, whisk together the powdered milk, cocoa powder, and powdered sugar. Make sure all clumps are stirred out.
  • Slowly whisk the cocoa powder mixture into the warm milk until it is smooth and fully combined.
  • Stir in the 1/2 tsp peppermint extract.
  • Pour the chocolate chips in and stir until they are fully melted.
  • Remove from the heat and serve!
  • Top with all your favorite peppermint hot chocolate toppings: mini marshmallows, whipped cream, crushed candy canes, Andes Peppermint Crunch bits, mini candy canes...
