4 teaspoons sesame seed
1 can (13.8 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Classic Crust Pizza Crust or 1 can (11 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Thin Crust Pizza Crust
3 tablespoons horseradish mustard
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
3/4 lb thinly sliced Canadian bacon
2 large tart green apples, peeled, sliced (3 cups)
1 package (8 oz) deli-thin Swiss cheese slices

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400°F. Spray or lightly grease large cookie sheet (use dark pan for thin crust). Sprinkle sesame seed on cookie sheet. Unroll dough; place over seed. Cover with waxed paper. With rolling pin, roll dough into 16x13-inch rectangle; remove paper.
  • Spread mustard over dough; sprinkle evenly with thyme. Layer bacon, apples and cheese over mustard, covering entire surface.
  • Bake classic crust 14 to 18 minutes, thin crust 12 to 16 minutes, or until crust is golden brown and cheese is melted. Cut into 4 rows by 4 rows.

Move over, marinara. This easy apple recipe takes pizza in a new direction by topping the golden-brown crust with Gala apple slices and crispy bacon. Instead of traditional mozzarella, crumbles of blue cheese help take this recipe a step above other classic pizza recipes.

4 slices applewood- or hickory-smoked bacon, coarsely chopped
2 6-7 ounce Gala apples, cored and sliced (about 2 2/3 cups)
0.5 cup dry white wine or apple juice
0.25 teaspoon dried thyme, crushed
0.25 teaspoon black pepper
1 pound frozen pizza dough, thawed
0.667 cup crumbled blue cheese
0.5 cup broken walnuts, toasted
0.25 cup sliced green onions
Honey (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450°F. Grease an extra-large baking sheet. In a large skillet cook bacon over medium heat until crisp. Drain on paper towels, reserving 2 Tbsp. drippings in skillet (reserve any remaining drippings). Add apples to drippings in skillet; cook 5 minutes, stirring to scrape up any browned bits. Carefully stir in wine, thyme, and pepper. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, 6 to 7 minutes or until liquid is evaporated, stirring occasionally.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll pizza dough into a 15x11-inch rectangle (let dough rest during rolling, if necessary). Place on prepared baking sheet and reshape. Brush with any reserved bacon drippings or olive oil. Spread dough with apple mixture to within 1/2 inch of the edges; sprinkle with cheese. Bake 10 minutes.
  • Sprinkle pizza with bacon; bake 5 to 10 minutes more or until crust and toppings are golden. Top with walnuts and green onions. If desired, sprinkle with additional cheese and drizzle with honey.

1 teaspoon olive oil
3 slices bacon (about 2 ounces), cut into 1/2-inch pieces
1 small onion, peeled, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons mascarpone cheese
1/4 cup farmer's cheese
Freshly grated nutmeg
Freshly ground black pepper
6 ounces Pizza Dough, recipe follows
1/2 cup grated mozzarella
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan
2 tablespoons fresh thyme leaves
1 package active dry or fresh yeast
1 teaspoon honey
1 cup warm water, 105 to 115 degrees F
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil, plus additional for brushing

Steps:

  • Place a pizza stone on the middle rack of the oven and preheat the oven to 500 degrees F.
  • In a medium size saute pan, add olive oil and heat over medium heat. When the oil is hot, add the bacon and cook until the bacon is very crispy and all of the fat is rendered. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel-lined plate. Remove all but 2 tablespoons of the bacon fat from the pan and discard. Place the pan over high heat. Add the onions to the hot bacon fat and cook until the onions are well browned, about 8 to 10 minutes, stirring often. Remove to a paper towel lined plate.
  • In a small bowl, combine the mascarpone and farmer's cheeses. Season with nutmeg and black pepper. Reserve.
  • On a lightly floured surface, stretch or roll the dough as thinly as possible, about 14 to 15-inch circle. Evenly spread the mascarpone mixture over the dough. Sprinkle with the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses, bacon, thyme, and sauteed onion. Bake until the pizza crust is nicely browned, about 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Remove pizza from the oven, transfer to a cutting board, cut into slices and serve immediately.
  • In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and honey in 1/4 cup warm water.
  • In a food processor, combine the flour and the salt. Add the oil, the yeast mixture, and the remaining 3/4 cup of water and process until the mixture forms a ball. (The pizza dough can also be made in a mixer fitted with a dough hook. Mix on low speed until the mixture comes cleanly away from the sides of the bowl and starts to climb up the dough hook).
  • Turn the dough out onto a clean work surface and knead by hand 2 or 3 minutes longer. The dough should be smooth and firm. Cover the dough with a clean, damp towel and let it rise in a cool spot for about 2 hours. (When ready, the dough will stretch as it is lightly pulled).
  • Divide the dough into 4 balls, about 6 ounces each. Work each ball by pulling down the sides and tucking under the bottom of the ball. Repeat 4 or 5 times. Then on a smooth, unfloured surface, roll the ball under the palm of your hand until the top of the dough is smooth and firm, about 1 minute. Cover the dough with a damp towel and let rest 1 hour. At this point, the balls can be wrapped in plastic and refrigerated for up to 2 days.

1 cup apple butter
1/2 cup shredded lowfat mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup diced sweet onion
1/2 cup cored, seeded and diced Golden Delicious apple
1/2 cup sliced Canadian bacon

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Lightly spray 1 baking sheet with olive oil cooking spray; set aside.
  • Press dough into a rectangle on a floured surface. Cut into quarters and place on prepared baking sheet with floured fingers. Top with apple butter, cheese, onion, apple, and Canadian bacon. Bake in oven 12 to 17 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
  • Slice and serve.

3 tablespoons sugar
1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup milk

APPLE TOPPING:
4 cups sliced peeled tart apples
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
CHEESE TOPPING:
4 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons caramel ice cream topping
STREUSEL:
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup cold butter, cubed

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine 1-1/2 cups flour, sugar, yeast and salt. In a saucepan, heat water, milk and butter to 120°-130°. Add to dry ingredients; beat for 2 minutes. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a firm dough. Turn onto a floured surface; cover and let rest for 15 minutes., Meanwhile, in a large skillet, cook and stir apples in butter over medium heat for 2 minutes. Combine the sugar, flour and cinnamon; stir into skillet. Cook 3 minutes longer. Reduce heat to low; cook, uncovered, for 4-6 minutes or until apples are tender, stirring frequently. , In a small bowl, combine the cheese topping ingredients. For streusel, in a small bowl, combine flour and sugar; cut in butter until crumbly. , Pat dough onto a greased 14-in. pizza pan, building up edges slightly. Spread with cheese topping, then apple topping. Sprinkle with streusel. Bake at 375° for 20-25 minutes or until crust is golden brown. Serve warm or cold.
