I heard about this pie in England, and be sure it's a wonderful one.

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs
1 cup butter
½ cup white sugar
3 teaspoons ground ginger
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
2 bananas, sliced
2 cups heavy whipping cream

Steps:

  • Mix graham cracker crumbs, sugar, melted butter or margarine, and ginger until well blended . Press mixture into a 9 inch pie plate. Cool in refrigerator.
  • In a sauce pan, boil an unopened can of sweetened condensed milk for 3 hours. Monitor the water closely, to make sure there is always water in the pan. Remove can from heat and let cool for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Open can and pour toffee into pie crust. Allow to cool.
  • Slice bananas over toffee.
  • Whip 2 cups of cream and spoon it on top of bananas. Refrigerate before serving.

This was a bit of an experiment this morning when I fancied something different for breakfast and didn't know what. It's just a bit of a twist on porridge really!

Number Of Ingredients 5

3/4 cup oats (the old fashioned scotts ones)
1 1/2 cups milk (I use skim)
2 tablespoons dulce de leche
1 banana (nice and ripe)
1 pinch salt

Steps:

  • Put the oats, milk and pinch of salt in a pan and bring to the boil.
  • Simmer, stirring regularly, for approximately 5 minutes or until porridge is nice and thick.
  • Meanwhile, mash the banana together with the dulce de leche.
  • When the porridge is done, add in the banana and dulce de leche mixture and stir well.
  • Remove from the heat and serve immediately.
