Steps:
- Preheat a large square Belgian waffle iron.
- Unroll the puff pastry sheets and cut each evenly into 4 squares. To assemble, roll out 1 square of puff pastry with a rolling pin into at least a 5-by-5-inch square. Place 3 tablespoons apple pie filling in the center and fold the pastry over to form a triangular pocket. Use a fork to crimp the edges. Repeat with the remaining puff pastry squares and apple filling.
- Spray the waffle iron with nonstick cooking spray. Place 1 turnover into each of the 4 square areas on the waffle iron. Close the top and cook for 4 1/2 to 5 minutes; the pastry will be golden brown and toasted. Repeat with the remaining turnovers.
QUINCE TURNOVERS
Browning the butter before cooking the quince adds a layer of flavor to these pastries without obscuring the fruit. If you have some cinnamon on hand, stir in a pinch when you add the sugar.

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment.
- Melt 2 tablespoons of the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat until it starts to brown. Add the quince and cook, stirring occasionally, until slightly softened and nicely browned in spots, 3 to 4 minutes. Add the sugar and 1/4 cup water, bring to a simmer, and cook, stirring occasionally, until the liquid is syrupy and the quince is tender, 4 to 5 minutes more. Stir in the salt. Transfer the mixture to a metal bowl and refrigerate to cool, about 10 minutes.
- Fill a small bowl with water. Dice the remaining 4 tablespoons cold butter into bits and fold it into the fruit. Dust a cutting board with flour and roll out the puff pastry to a 12-inch square. Cut into 4 6-inch squares.
- Brush the edges of one of the pastry squares with water. Spoon 1/2 cup of the filling into the center of the square and spread it out a bit towards 2 opposite corners. Fold the dough diagonally over the filling to make a triangle and seal by pressing the edges with a fork. Transfer to the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining pastry squares and filling. Arrange the turnovers 2-inches apart. Make 2 or 3 vents in the top of each turnover with a sharp knife, using the tip to open the vents to expose the fruit (this will prevent the vents from closing in the oven). If your kitchen is very hot, pop each turnover in the freezer while you work and cut vents them when they are chilled. You can fill and freeze the turnovers for up to 5 days before baking; add an additional 5 minutes to the baking time.
- Bake the turnovers until deep golden brown, 18 to 22 minutes, rotating the pan after 10 minutes. Place the pan on a rack and let the turnovers cool for 5 minutes before serving. The turnovers can also be served at room temperature.
APPLE TURNOVERS
Treat family and friends to these moreish apple turnovers. With an apple and cinnamon filling encased in puff pastry, they're delicious served with ice cream

Steps:
- Put the Bramley apple, sugar and cinnamon in a small pan with 1 tbsp water. Cover with a lid and simmer over a low heat for 10-15 mins until the apple breaks down and turns into a compote.
- Stir in the butter and the Gala apple and cook for a further 5 mins, uncovered, until the Gala apple is just soft but retaining its shape, and any excess water has evaporated to make a thick compote around the Gala chunks. Remove from the heat and leave to cool.
- Heat the oven to 220C/200C fan/gas 7. Unravel the puff pastry sheet out on a work surface, and cut into 4 even rectangles. Divide the apple filling to one side of each of the puff pastry rectangles, leaving a 1cm border. Brush the border with milk and fold over the empty side of pastry over the filling and crimp together. Brush with more milk and sprinkle over the sugar. Make a small steam hole in the middle of the turnovers.
- Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 20-25 mins until golden and puffed up. Leave to cool for 10 mins on a wire rack (the filling will be molten when it first comes out the oven) before serving warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, or serve at room temperature. Keep for 2 days in an airtight container.

SAVORY PORK TURNOVERS
Apples, potatoes, ground pork and seasonings tucked inside flaky golden pastry never fail to win praise from my family at home and friends at church functions. The assembly requires a bit of effort, but these impressive little turnovers are worth it. -Ruby Carves, Litchfield, Maine

EASY PARTY TURNOVERS
I found these on another website and made them for snacks for the Superbowl. They were very well received and incredibly easy. Everybody dipped them in ketchup and barbeque sauce and they tasted like little Cheeseburger appetizers! They were simple and delicious!
