Belmont Stakes organizers tried for years to come up with the right cocktail and, after a couple of failed attempts called the White Carnation and the Belmont Breeze, they finally landed on the Belmont Jewel in 2011.

Steps:

  • Combine 2 ounces lemonade, 1 1/2 ounces bourbon and 1 ounce pomegranate juice in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously, then strain into a short glass filled with ice. Garnish with a lemon twist.

The Belmont Jewel Cocktail is the official drink of the Belmont Stakes, the third leg of the Triple Crown. This drink is so delicious, it's no wonder they call it a jewel!

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 1/2 ounces of bourbon ( I used Woodford Reserve )
2 ounces of lemonade
1 ounce of pomegranate juice
lemon wedge garnish

Steps:

  • Add the first 3 ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake well. Strain over a glass filled with ice and garnish with a lemon wedge.
