It is a variation of widely known and appreciated bloody mary and borrows the concept of using spicy tomato drink to make a cocktail. As name suggests, bloody beer is prepared by mixing beer with spiced tomato juice. Discover how to make refreshing and light cocktail of beer and tomato juice with this easy beer cocktail recipe.

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 bottle or can (12 oz) Light Lager Beer
120 ml (4 oz) Tomato Juice
1 dash Worcestershire Sauce
1 dash Tabasco Pepper Sauce
1 pinch Ground black pepper
5 ml (1/6 oz) Lime Juice (Optional)

Steps:

  • Directions:First add tomato juice in the pint glass followed by Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco pepper sauce and lime juice, stir well.Top up with light lager beer and stir.Sprinkle ground black pepper on top and serve.

1/4 cup fresh lime juice, plus wedges for garnish
3 1/4 cups tomato-clam juice (or 3 cups tomato juice mixed with 1/4 cup clam juice)
3/4 teaspoon hot sauce
Coarse salt, for rimming the glasses
2 12-ounce cans beer, chilled
Celery stalks, for garnish

Steps:

  • Combine the lime juice, tomato-clam juice and hot sauce in a pitcher. Mix well and refrigerate until ready to serve.
  • Spread a small amount of salt in a shallow saucer. Moisten the rims of 4 tall glasses with water and dip in the salt. Fill with ice, then fill halfway with the tomato-clam juice mixture. Top with beer and garnish with celery stalks and lime wedges.

1/4 cup kosher salt
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
8 lime wedges
2 cups tomato juice
8 tablespoons fresh lime juice
Hot sauce (such as Cholula)
Worcestershire sauce
8 12-ounce cans light lager
Spicy Pickled Green Beans and Fennel (optional)

Steps:

  • Mix salt and red pepper flakes on a small plate. Rub rims of 8 pint glasses with a lime wedge; dip in chile salt and fill with ice. Add 1/4 cup tomato juice, 1 tablespoon lime juice, a dash of each hot sauce and Worcestershire sauce, and 12 ounces lager to each glass; garnish with lime wedges and Spicy Pickled Green Beans and Fennel, if desired.

I saw this served at a tavern I used to go to several years ago. At that time, tomato juice was used. I liked it so I started to make it at home when I wanted something other than a "straight" beer. I have since used bloody mary mix to make the drink a little spicier and more flavorful. Tomato juice may be used if you don't want a spicier drink.
