Bourbon-Spiked Iced Tea image

A bourbon-spiked pitcher of iced tea is the perfect refresher to serve at your next summer get-together or a lazy afternoon by the pool.

4 cups water (divided)
4 black tea bags
2 tablespoons sugar
1 cup fresh mint leaves
1 cup Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon
Juice from 1/2 lemon
Juice from 1/2 lime

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, boil 2 cups water. Remove from heat; add the tea bags.
  • Steep 8 minutes; discard tea bags.
  • Add 2 cups cold water. Transfer to pitcher and chill.
  • Add fresh mint leaves, lemon juice, and lime juice. Using a wooden spoon, crush the mint to release the flavors.
  • Stir in Wild Turkey Bourbon. Serve over ice.

  • Add a splash of creme de menthe and stir.
  • Serve garnished with a lemon wheel and a sprig of mint.

4 cups sweet tea (store-bought or homemade)
2 cups Peach Nectar, recipe follows
1 cup bourbon
4 lemon slices, for garnish
4 mint sprigs, for garnish
3 cups frozen peaches, thawed
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 to 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, optional

Steps:

  • Stir together the tea, Peach Nectar and bourbon in a pitcher filled with ice. Pour into iced tea glasses filled with ice and garnish with a lemon slice and mint sprig.
  • Combine the peaches, 2 cups water, lemon juice and sugar (if using) in a blender and blend until smooth. Strain the peach nectar through a fine-mesh strainer. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

4 tablespoons loose tea
1 quart water
1 quart cool water
1 cup water
2 cups sugar
4 lemons, zest of
1/8 teaspoon salt
6 lemons, juice of
mint sprig, optional garnish
Bourbon (optional to taste)

Steps:

  • Heat one quart of water to boiling in large saucepan. Add loose tea to boiling water and remove from heat; allow to steep with lid on for 4 minutes. Immediately strain tea into a pitcher filled with the cool water.
  • While tea is brewing, for the lemonade base combine water, sugar and lemon zest. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes. Cool, and then add the lemon juice. Strain the syrup and store in the refrigerator in a covered jar.
  • To Serve: Fill a 16 ounce glass 3/4 full with ice. Put in 2 -3 tablespoons (or to taste) lemonade base and then slowly fill the glass with tea. Garnish with mint sprig and serve.
  • For alcoholic beverage, add Bourbon.
  • Should you have leftover lemonade base, it may be used to make lemonade by using 1 part lemonade base and 4 parts water.
