- Serve warm. Let any left over cool and store in an airtight container.

Steps:
- Combine all ingredients (except for topping ingredients) in the bowl of a stand mixer and mix using the dough hook attachment until combined on low.
- Continue mixing 5-10 minutes, adding just a little more flour if needed.
- Dough will be soft and slightly sticky; it may not completely pull away from side of bowl. However, it should feel smooth and elastic when it's done kneading.
- Turn dough out onto a floured surface and knead two or three times, forming a ball.
- Cover with a kitchen towel and let rise one to one and a half hours, until nearly double in size. (If you live in a very dry area you may want to put the dough into a large greased bowl and cover it with plastic wrap to ensure it doesn't dry out.)
- On a floured surface, roll dough into a 12x16 inch rectangle. Use pizza cutter to slice into 16 strips.
- Pinched the long sides of each piece together to form a breadstick shape.
- Place sticks pinched side down on a baking sheet that's been lightly greased or lined with parchment paper. Cover with a towel, and let rise about 30 minutes.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 15-18 minutes until golden brown. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with seasonings.

ALMOST-FAMOUS BREADSTICKS (OLIVE GARDEN COPYCAT)
Since Olive Garden won't give out the recipe, here's the closest one to the real thing! This recipe calls for a Kitchen-Aid mixer with the paddle attachment, but I'm sure you could use something similar. From Food Network magazine.

- Let it proof for 10 minutes, and get nice and foamy. Then, mix in the 2 tsp of salt, 2 tbsp of softened butter, and about 3 cups of the flour. Keep adding the remaining flour until you get a nice, soft dough that pulls away from the side of the bowl and isn't too sticky.
- My kitchen is far too cold, so I warm my oven (just until it reaches 170°F) and turn it off. Then, I set a dish of hot water on the lower rack, and the bowl with the dough on the top rack. This keeps everything nice, warm, and moist. (It's important to remember to turn the oven off!)

- Spray your bread machine pan. Add all the ingredients to the bread machine according to the manufacture’s instructions. I always do wet ingredients, then dry ingredients, and then I make a hole in the flour to add the yeast. Set to dough cycle.
- When the dough cycle is complete remove and split into 12 even balls. Roll them lengthwise to make a breadstick. Place on a grease cookie sheet. (It’s ok if they touch a little.) When you are all done cover and place in a warm spot to rise for about an hour.
- Preheat the over to 400*. Bake the breadsticks for about 12-14 minutes. I like to brown them just a little bit.

- Using the bowl of a countertop mixer, add all of the breadstick ingredients (yeast, flour, softened butter, sugar and salt); stir until well combined.
- Transfer dough to a lightly-floured work surface. Divide dough into 16 equally sized pieces. (Tip: A kitchen scale is the easiest way to divide the dough, but you can also roll the dough into a 24” log and then cut into (16) 1½” pieces.)

- For the dough, pour the water into a stand mixer with the sugar and yeast, let that sit and froth for about 10 minutes.
- Add salt, butter, and 2 cups of flour. Mix the dough on low. Add the rest of the flour a half cup at a time, until dough scrapes the sides of the bowl clean. Mix the dough about 5 minutes on medium speed, until its soft and easy to work with.
- Roll the dough out into a long log, cut the dough into 12-14 pieces. Roll those pieces into about 6 inch long snakes. Spray 2 large cookie sheets with cooking spray, and lay the breadsticks out leaving about 2 inches between each one. Place them in the oven with the temperature turned to 170 degrees. Let them rise for about 20 minutes, or until doubled in size.

From tasteofhome.com
- Preheat and prepare. Preheat oven to 400°F and line a 9×13-inch baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
- Melt butter and warm milk. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Then, stir in the milk and warm to 105-112°F. Alternatively, you may also melt and warm the milk in the microwave for 30-60 seconds at 50% power.
- Combine with yeast and sugar. Next, add the yeast and sugar to the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook. Slowly add the warmed milk to the yeast and sugar and gently stir to combine.
- Add egg and dry ingredients. Next, with your stand mixer on its lowest speed, stir in the egg and salt before adding in 2-1/2 cups (300g) of flour.
- Knead. Increase your mixer to its second speed and knead the dough for 3-4 minutes. Alternately, you may knead by hand for 6-8 minutes on a lightly oiled surface.
- Shape. With lightly floured hands, divide the dough into 12 equal pieces, approximately 65 grams each. Then shape dough into 12 breadsticks, and place them 1 inch apart on the prepared baking sheet(s).
- Proof. Cover loosely with a tea towel or plastic wrap, and let the dough proof for 10-15 minutes in a warm place. The breadsticks should rise and puff slightly during this period.
- Bake. Uncover the breadsticks and transfer to the preheated oven. Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Make the garlic butter. While the breadsticks are baking, prepare the garlic butter by melting the butter on your stovetop or in the microwave. Remove from heat and then stir in the salt and garlic powder.
- Baste. Remove the breadsticks from the oven when golden, and immediately baste with the melted garlic butter. Serve warm. Inspired by: Chicken & Gnocchi Soup.
