Diabetic Exchanges: 1 1/2 starches, 1 fruit, and 3 fats. This came the back of a Splenda brown sugar bag. My family really enjoyed this apple crisp. It was easy to make.

1/2 cup Splenda brown sugar blend
2 tablespoons all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
4 cups rome apples, peeled and thinly sliced (1 1/2 pounds)
1 1/4 cups quick cooking oatmeal
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/4 cup Splenda brown sugar blend
3/4 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup butter, melted

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350. Lightly spray an 8x8x2-inch square baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.
  • Filling: Combine Splenda, flour, and cinnamon in a large bowl. Add apples, tossing to coat. Spoon into prepared pan. Set aside.
  • Topping: Combine oatmeal, flour, Splenda, and walnuts in a bowl; stir in butter. Mixture will be crumbly. Spoon over apple mixture.
  • Bake 45 minutes or until apples are bubbly and topping is golden brown. Serve warm.

4 cups sliced apples
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup water
1 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 cup Splenda sugar substitute
2/3 cup flour
1 dash salt
1/3 cup butter
1/4 lb cheese

Steps:

  • Arrange apples in shallow greased pan.
  • Sprinkle with cinnamon.
  • Add water and lemon juice.
  • Combine splenda, flour and salt; work in butter to form a crumble mixture.
  • Stir in shredded cheese and sprinkle the mixture over the apples.
  • Bake at 350F until apples are tender and crust is brown and crisp, 40 minutes.

1 tablespoon lemon juice

FILLING:
4 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon milk
TOPPING:
3/4 cup quick-cooking oats
2/3 cup all-purpopse-flour
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
5 tablespoons cold butter

Steps:

  • In a 2-qt. microwave-safe dish, toss the first six ingredients. Microwave, uncovered, on high for 6 minutes, stirring once. In a bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar. Add eggs, flour and milk; mix well. Spread evenly over apples., In a bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar and cinnamon. Cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over filling. Microwave, uncovered, on high for 4-1/2 minutes or until apples are tender. rotating dish twice. Serve warm.

2 cups water
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons lemon juice
8 cups all-purpose flour
8 cups sugar

4 cups cold butter
8 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Whipped cream or ice cream, optional

Steps:

  • Arrange apples in four greased 13x9-in. baking dishes. Combine water and lemon juice; sprinkle over apples. Combine the flour, sugar, cinnamon and salt; cut in butter until crumbly. 1 teaspoon lemon juice, or as needed
1 cup water, or as desired
1 Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored, and sliced, or more to taste
⅓ cup white sugar
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
¼ cup white sugar
1 egg
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (10 inch) graham cracker crust
⅓ cup quick-cooking oats

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Stir lemon juice and water together in a bowl; add apples to stop browning process. Whisk 1/3 cup sugar and cinnamon together in a separate bowl.
  • Beat cream cheese and 1/4 cup sugar together in a bowl using an electric mixer until smooth; add egg and vanilla extract and mix until evenly combined.
  • Drain apples and transfer to the graham cracker crust. Sprinkle cinnamon-sugar mixture and oats over apples. Pour cream cheese mixture over apple mixture.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until top is just beginning to brown, about 40 minutes. Cool on a wire rack, 1 to 2 hours. Refrigerate until completely set, 3 to 4 hours.
