This recipe is from an old Pampered Chef cookbook. Simple and something my kids will eat. Freezes well. See note for OAMC instructions.

1 (16 ounce) package mostaccioli pasta, uncooked
1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1 (28 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
1 (11 ounce) can condensed cheddar cheese soup
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 -1 1/2 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided

Steps:

  • Prepare the pasta according to the package directions; rinse and drain.
  • In a non-stick skillet, cook and stir the beef over medium-high heat until meat is browned; drain.
  • Add in spaghetti sauce, soup, pepper, and Italian seasoning; stir to combine.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the pasta, sauce, and 2 cups cheese.
  • Transfer mixture to a greased 4-quart baking dish.
  • Sprinkle remaining 1 cup cheese over the top.
  • Bake at 350° for 40 minutes or until heated through.
  • Note: OAMC instructions--To freeze: Complete recipe through step 6. Seal with foil or place in a zip top bag. Freeze.
  • To serve: Thaw in fridge overnight. Bake as directed.

3 cups uncooked mostaccioli
1 pound ground beef
1/2 pound bulk Italian sausage
1 small onion, chopped
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
1/2 cup chopped sweet red pepper
1/2 cup chopped fresh mushrooms
1 garlic clove, minced
1 can (15 ounces) crushed tomatoes
2 cans (8 ounces each) tomato sauce
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon sugar
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Cook mostaccioli according to package directions for al dente; drain., Meanwhile, in a 6-qt. stockpot, cook beef, sausage, onion, peppers, mushrooms and garlic over medium-high heat 6-8 minutes or until meat is no longer pink and vegetables are tender, breaking meat into crumbles; drain., Stir in tomatoes, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning and sugar. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, 8-10 minutes to allow flavors to blend., Stir in 1-1/2 cups cheese and mostaccioli. Transfer to a greased 13x9-in. baking dish. Bake, covered, 20 minutes. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake, uncovered, 5-10 minutes longer or until cheese is melted.

Delicious and comforting Cheesy Baked Mostaccioli is perfect for family dinner! A cozy pasta casserole made with tender mostaccioli noodles tossed in a rich meat sauce, layered with three types of cheese and baked to golden perfection.

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup diced onion
1 1/2 pounds ground Italian sausage
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 (28- ounce) jar marinara sauce
1 large egg
15 ounces ricotta cheese
2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups grated low moisture mozzarella cheese
3/4 cup fresh grated Parmesan cheese, divided
3 tablespoons butter
3/4 cup unseasoned Panko breadcrumbs
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 pound Mostaccioli

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  • : Add olive oil to a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the onions until they are softened, 3 - 4 minutes. Add in the ground sausage and cook until the sausage is no longer pink. Add in the garlic and cook for an additional minute. Drain any excess grease and add in the marinara sauce. Turn the heat to low and let the sauce simmer while you complete the next steps.
  • : In a large bowl combine the egg, ricotta, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, mozzarella, and 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese. Set aside.
  • : In a small skillet melt the butter on medium heat. Continue cooking and stirring the butter until it becomes a golden brown. Remove the skillet from the heat and add in the Panko, garlic powder, and remaining 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese. Set aside.
  • Cook the pasta according to package directions and drain thoroughly. Add the pasta to the meat sauce and stir to combine evenly.
  • : Add half of the pasta mixture evenly into the bottom of a 9×13 baking dish. Spread the ricotta cheese mixture evenly on top. Spread the remaining pasta on top. Sprinkle the buttered breadcrumbs evenly on top.
  • Cover the pan with foil and bake for 35 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 - 10 minutes until the breadcrumbs are golden brown.

Simple hardy mostaccioli pasta dish that can be baked in a throw-away aluminum pan for easy clean up.

1 (16 ounce) package mostaccioli pasta
1 pound ground beef
1 ½ (26 ounce) jars spaghetti sauce
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
⅓ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook mostaccioli in the boiling water, stirring occasionally, until tender yet firm to the bite, 8 to 10 minutes. Drain.
  • Meanwhile, heat a nonstick pan over medium-high heat. Cook and stir ground beef until browned and crumbly, 5 to 10 minutes. Remove from the heat. Drain and discard grease. Add spaghetti sauce to the pan and mix with the beef.
  • Transfer beef mixture to the prepared baking dish. Spread evenly over the bottom and layer cooked pasta over top. Sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Cover with foil.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes. Remove foil and continue to bake until cheese is melted and lightly browned, about 10 more minutes.
