- In a small bowl stir together butter, fennel seeds, lemon peel, pepper, and salt.
- Set aside.
- Cut fennel into quarters; remove cores.
- Cut fennel lengthwise into 1/4 inch strips.
- In a covered 4-quart Dutch Oven cook beans in a small amount of boiling salted water for 5 minutes.
- Add fennel.
- Cook for 5 to 8 minutes more or until vegetables are crisp-tender; drain.
- Add butter mixture.
- Toss gently to coat.

- Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 thinly sliced fennel bulb and cook, stirring, until browned, 15 minutes. Cook 1 1/2 pounds halved green beans in boiling salted water until tender, 5 to 6 minutes. Drain and add to the fennel. Stir in 2 tablespoons each butter and water and cook until glazed, 2 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

- In a soup pot, saute the garlic and onions in the olive oil, stirring occasionally, until the onions are translucent. Add the potatoes and tomatoes. Stir in the thyme and water. Cover and bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer. Stem the green beans and cut them into 1inch pieces. Add the beans and sliced fennel bulb to the pot. Stir in the saffron, orange peel, and lemon juice. Simmer, covered, for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes and green beans are tender. Add salt and pepper to taste.

- Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium-high heat until evenly brown. Drain, crumble, and set aside. Reserve 1/4 cup of bacon drippings in the skillet.
- Place green beans and water in a medium saucepan, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer 6 minutes, or until tender but crisp; drain.
- Place mushrooms and onion into the skillet with the reserved bacon drippings. Cook and stir over medium-high heat for 10 minutes; drain. Reserving 2 tablespoons for topping, mix the crumbled bacon into the skillet. Stir in the green beans. Season with pepper, and transfer to a 2 quart baking dish.
- Melt the cheese sauce in the microwave, and pour over the green bean mixture. Sprinkle with reserved bacon, and serve.

- Boil water with dash of salt.
- Cook green beans until tender - about 10-15 minutes.
- Place green beans in baking dish.
- Sprinkle salt and paprika over beans.

- Dot with butter half of required butter.
- Pour cream over beans.
- Add remaining cheese and butter.

- Heat the oven to 425 degrees. Trim the fennel. Cut it in half lengthwise and slice it crosswise, about 1/4-inch thick (reserve about 1/4 cup roughly chopped fennel fronds). Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a large cast-iron skillet over medium. Add the sliced fennel, season with salt and pepper and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened but still retaining a little bite, about 12 minutes. Stir in the garlic and cook until fragrant, 1 to 2 minutes.
- Meanwhile, pour 1 can white beans and its liquid into a blender. Add the heavy cream, lemon juice and 2 tablespoons olive oil and purée until smooth. Drain and rinse the remaining can of beans and transfer it to the skillet along with the bean purée. Season generously with salt and pepper.

CHEESY GARLIC GREEN BEANS
Steps:
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees
- Wash your green beans, getting rid of any leaves or long stems. I like to cut off the ends of mine.
- Lightly grease a 9 x 13 inch pan and lay your green beans down in the pan. It's okay that they over lap or stack on top of each other.
- Drizzle 2 Tablespoons of olive oil over your green beans.
- Sprinkle salt, pepper, garlic salt, and Parmesan cheese over your green beans and toss until well incorporated in the pan.
- Top green beans with 1/2 cup Mozzarella cheese and sprinkle with parsley.
- Bake for 15 minutes or until beans are cooked through and cheese begins to bubble.
