EASY GLAZED PORK CHOPS RECIPE BY TASTY

Easy Glazed Pork Chops Recipe by Tasty image

Here's what you need: thick-cut pork chops, paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, black pepper, salt, brown sugar, olive oil

Provided by Tasty

Categories     Dinner

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 8

4 thick-cut pork chops
½ teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons brown sugar
olive oil, for frying

Steps:

  • In a bowl, combine your spices (paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt).
  • Rub the pork chops in the spices generously.
  • Heat olive oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium/high heat. When the oil is hot, add the pork chops. Cook for about 3-5 minutes on each side or until they have a nice caramelized brownness to them. Once you feel that they are looking browned, add a Tablespoon of brown sugar to each pork chop. Turn each pork chop over, so both sides get some melted brown sugar. (Don't add the brown sugar too early or else the sugar will burn and smoke up the room.)
  • Bake at 350˚F (175˚C) for 15 minutes, making sure the pork chops are cooked through.
  • Before serving, pour the glaze that's formed in the pan over the chops. Serve with your vegetables of choice.
  • Enjoy!

BAKED PORK CHOPS WITH ONIONS AND CHILI SAUCE

Baked Pork Chops With Onions and Chili Sauce image

This is a quick pork recipe that I throw together fairly regularly because it's easy, requires few ingredients and is a big hit with the kids.

Provided by jenpalombi

Categories     Pork

Time 50m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

4 boneless pork loin chops, butterflied
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 large onion, sliced
1/8 cup brown sugar
2/3 cup Heinz Chili Sauce

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375.
  • Pound the chops thin with a meat tenderizer.
  • Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium high heat and brown the chops lightly on each side.
  • Move the chops to a shallow baking dish. Scatter the sliced onions over the chops, sprinkle with brown sugar and pour the chili sauce over all.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes (or until done, depending on the thickness of your chops). I usually flip them midway through so that they cook evenly in the sauce on both sides.
  • Smother chops with onions and sauce and serve.

CHILE-GLAZED PORK CHOPS

Chile-Glazed Pork Chops image

You know how food usually tastes better when someone else makes it? After taking my first bite of this, I could swear someone else made it. It's that good. Succulent pork chops with tons of flavor. From Simply Mexican by Lourdes Castro. She suggests serving it with a Fresh Tomatillo Sauce which I will post separately.

Provided by cookiedog

Categories     < 60 Mins

Time 1h

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 14

4 dried ancho chiles (or dried pasillas)
4 garlic cloves, unpeeled, but excess paper removed
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 bay leaf, crushed
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
4 pork chops, bone-in ideally 1 inch thick and 1/2 lb. each
salt
black pepper
2 tablespoons olive oil
3 cups beer or 3 cups water

Steps:

  • Red Chile Adobo Paste: Remove the seeds and veins from the chiles. Heat a skillet over medium heat and roast the chiles on both sides until they begin to release their aroma and soften a bit, about 1 minute (As soon as you begin to smell them, they are ready. If you hesitate, they will have a bitter taste).
  • Transfer to a blender and fill with boiling water. Allow the chiles to soak for 30 minutes, making sure to keep them submerged under water. (You may need to wedge the blender top into the opening to help keep the chiles under water.)
  • Roast the garlic on the same pan used to toast the chiles over medium heat, turning often until the skin blackens and the garlic begins to smell toasty, about 10 minutes. Remove from the heat and peel. Set aside.
  • Pour the water out of the blender jar, leaving behind the rehydrated chiles. Add the garlic along with cinnamon, bay leaf, cumin, pepper, oregano, salt, and vinegar and puree until smooth. (You may need to pulse and scrape down the mixture a few times to get the puree started.).
  • Marinate the Pork Chops: Slather both sides of the pork chops with the chile paste and place in a large resealable plastic bag. Allow to marinate in the refrigerator for at least 10 minutes (and up to a few hours).
  • Sear the Pork Chops: Leave a light coating of the chile paste on the pork chops and season with salt and pepper. Place a large, well seasoned cast-iron or nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, and add the olive oil. When the oil is hot, add the pork chops in a single layer and sear for 2 minutes on each side, or until the meat turns golden brown.
  • Braise in Beer: Pour in enough beer to barely cover the chops. Cover the pan ( with a piece of aluminum foil large enough to cover the pan if your pan does not have a lid) and decrease the heat to a simmer. Cook for 15 minutes. Turn the pork chops over and cook for another 15 minutes.
  • Reduce the Liquid to a Glaze: Uncover the skillet and increase the heat to medium-high. Alow the liquid to reduce almost completely, flipping the pork chops over every few minutes to ensure that both sides become glazed with the reduced sauce. This should take about 10 minutes. Serve warm.

Provided by Food Network

Categories     main-dish

Time 35m

Yield 2 servings

Number Of Ingredients 5

1/3 cup olive oil
2 (12 to 16-ounce) bone-in pork loin chops
Salt and freshly ground pepper
2 pinches crushed red pepper flakes
1 cup maple syrup

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 500 degrees F.
  • In a large oven-safe saute pan over high heat, heat the olive oil until oil ripples. Season pork chops on both sides with salt and pepper and crushed red pepper flakes. Sear the chops, presentation side down, until browned. Then flip and cook until the other side is browned. If the chops are more than 2 inches thick, sear them on the sides as well, using tongs to hold them.
  • Once a uniform sear is achieved, remove the pan from the heat and pour the syrup over the chops. Cook in the oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until firm to the touch. A meat thermometer should register 150 degrees F.
  • When fully cooked, remove the pan from oven and place it over a burner on high heat for a minute to thicken the glaze. Flip the chops so they are evenly coated and serve immediately.

JUICY OVEN-BAKED PORK CHOPS WITH GARLIC AND HERBS

Juicy Oven-Baked Pork Chops with Garlic and Herbs image

This Juicy Oven Baked Pork Chops with Garlic, Lemon, and Herbs recipe takes only 30 minutes, seared on the stovetop and finished in the oven.

Provided by Elizabeth Lindemann

Categories     Pork

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 11

4 boneless center cut pork chops (about 1" thick)
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil (or other high-heat oil like canola)
1 tablespoon fresh chopped oregano (or 1 teaspoon dried)
1 tablespoon fresh thyme (or 1 teaspoon dried)
2 cloves garlic (minced)
1 lemon (zested and cut into wedges)
1/2 cup dry white wine (such as sauvignon blanc, chardonnay, or pinot grigio)
1/2 cup chicken stock
1 tablespoon butter

Steps:

  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F and place an oven rack in the center. Pat the pork chops dry with a paper towel and season evenly on all sides with the kosher salt (1 teaspoon) and black pepper (1/2 teaspoon).
  • Heat an oven-safe skillet on high or medium-high heat, depending on your burners, until very hot. This will take only 30 seconds or so with stainless steel, but up to 5 minutes with cast iron. (to test, you shouldn't be able to hold your hand a couple inches over the skillet's surface for more than a few seconds.)
  • Add the oil (2 tablespoons) and swirl to coat the bottom of the pan (or use a spatula to evenly distribute it). Add the pork chops to the skillet and allow to sear, undisturbed, for 2 minutes. While they are searing, sprinkle 1 teaspoon of the fresh oregano and thyme (or less than 1/2 teaspoon if using dried), once minced clove of garlic, and half the lemon zest on the top side of the pork chops.
  • Turn off the heat on the burner and flip the pork chops. (Tip: they should release easily from the bottom of the skillet- if they don't, they may need more time searing.) With the seared side facing up, sprinkle the remainder of the fresh herbs, minced garlic, and lemon zest on top of the pork chops. Place the lemon wedges in the spaces around the pork chops. Slide skillet onto center oven rack and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until internal temperature is 145 degrees F (cooking time will vary depending on thickness and oven temperature).
  • Remove pork chops to a plate or cutting board and allow to rest for 5 minutes (tent with foil if resting for longer than that to keep them warm).

CHILE-GLAZED PORK CHOPS WITH FRESH TOMATILLO SAUCE

Chile-Glazed Pork Chops with Fresh Tomatillo Sauce image

These succulent pork chops are perfect for a small dinner party or family dinner at home. If you have the Red Chile Paste and Fresh Tomatillo Sauce made ahead of time, you will have dinner on the table before you know it. I like to serve these with the Shredded Cabbage & Radish Slaw (page 24). Comforting and flavorful-this is sure to become a family favorite.

Yield serves 4

Number Of Ingredients 6

4 bone-in pork chops, ideally 1 inch thick and 1/2 pound each
1 cup Red Chile Paste (page 100)
Salt and black pepper
2 tablespoons olive oil
About 3 cups beer or water
1 cup Fresh Tomatillo Sauce (page 95)

Steps:

  • Slather both sides of the pork chops with the chile paste and place in a large resealable plastic bag. Allow to marinate in the refrigerator for at least 10 minutes (and up to a few hours).
  • Leave a light coating of the chile paste on the pork chops and season with salt and pepper. Place a large, well-seasoned cast-iron or nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, and add the olive oil. When the oil is hot, add the pork chops in a single layer and sear for 2 minutes on each side, or until the meat turns golden brown.
  • Pour in enough beer to barely cover the chops. Cover the pan (top with a piece of aluminum foil large enough to cover the pan if yours does not have a lid) and decrease the heat to a simmer. Cook for 15 minutes. Turn the pork chops over and cook for another 15 minutes.
  • Uncover the skillet and increase the heat to medium-high. Allow the liquid to reduce almost completely, flipping the pork chops over every few minutes to ensure that both sides become glazed with the reduced sauce. This should take about 10 minutes.
  • Serve warm with tomatillo sauce.
  • INGREDIENTS
  • Pork Chops
  • Because bone-in pork chops are more flavorful than boneless chops, I prefer them in this recipe. But feel free to use either one. I also like to use the thick cuts, but the thin ones also work well. Just make sure to decrease the braising time if you are using thin cuts because they will cook in less time.
  • TECHNIQUES
  • Braising the Pork Chop
  • Braising is a technique used to tenderize tough cuts of meat. The meat is first seared to develop a nice golden crust, then simmered in a liquid to cook it through without drying it out. You will find variations of this technique throughout the meat recipes in this book, as Mexican cooking tends to use tougher (and tastier) cuts of meat.
  • ADVANCE PREPARATION
  • The red chile paste and tomatillo sauce can be made well in advance (up to 3 days before). Once the pork chops are braised, they can be held, covered, in a warm (250°F) oven for about 1 hour before serving.
