This chocolate covered cherry cordial recipe lets us have the traditional holiday favorite any time of the year.

1/2 cup butter, melted
7 ounces sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 pounds confectioners' sugar
20 ounces maraschino cherries,, patted dry
1 pound milk chocolate candy coating, melted (dark chocolate is fine too)

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine butter and milk. Gradually beat in confectioners' sugar until a smooth dough is formed. Cover with plastic wrap and chill.
  • Shape the dough into 1-in. balls; flatten to 2-in. circles. Wrap each circle around a cherry and gently reshape into a ball. Dip into milk chocolate coating; allow excess to drip off.
  • Place on waxed paper-lined baking sheets. Chill until firm. Store in an airtight container.

1 jar (10 ounces) maraschino cherries with stems, drained
1/2 cup brandy
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Place cherries in a small bowl; add brandy. Cover and freeze for at least 3 hours., Place chocolate chips in a small heavy saucepan. Cook over low heat until chips begin to melt. Remove from the heat; stir. Return to the heat; cook just until melted. Immediately remove from the heat; stir until smooth., Pat cherries dry. Holding onto the stems, dip cherries into chocolate; allow excess to drip off. Place on a waxed paper-lined pan. Refrigerate for 10 minutes or until firm. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

2-1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 tablespoon 2% milk
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
2 jars (8 ounces each) maraschino cherries with stems, well drained
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
2 tablespoons shortening

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine the sugar, butter, milk and extract. Knead until smooth and pliable. Shape into 1-in. balls and flatten each into a 2-in. circle. , Wrap one circle around each cherry and lightly roll in hands. Place with stems up on waxed paper-lined baking sheet. Cover loosely and refrigerate 4 hours or overnight. , In a microwave, melt chocolate and shortening; stir until smooth. Holding on to the stems, dip cherries into chocolate; allow excess to drip off. Place on waxed paper until set. Store in a covered container. Refrigerate 1-2 weeks before serving.

How To Make Homemade Cherry Cordials image

My husband loves cherry cordials and I am always up for a challenge to recreate his favorite store-bought treats. These homemade cherry cordials are so easy to make and taste delicious!

Number Of Ingredients 7

10 oz bottle of Maraschino Cherries
2 tbsp softened Butter
1 tsp Corn Syrup
1 tbsp liquid from the Maraschino Cherry jar
1/2 tsp Invertase
1 1/2 cup Powdered Sugar
12 oz Chocolate Melting Chips

Steps:

  • Remove cherries from liquid and place on a paper-towel lined cookie sheet to drain.
  • Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  • Combine butter, corn syrup, 1 tablespoon of liquid from cherries and invertase.
  • Stir until blended.
  • Gradually add powdered sugar. Mixture should come together and not be too sticky.
  • Form into 1/2″ balls and flatten. Place a drained cherry in the middle and wrap to completely cover cherry. Roll to round out ball. Return to prepared sheet.
  • Place in freezer for at least 30 minutes.
  • Melt chocolate by microwaving fo 45 seconds, stirring and repeating until smooth and melted.
  • Dip balls in chocolate with a fork, shaking off excess and return to prepared sheet.
  • Refrigerate for 15 minutes to set chocolate.
  • Use a knife to carefully trim excess chocolate from candies.
  • Place in sealed container and allow to sit for a week or so for invertase to liquify sugar.

3 tablespoons butter, softened
3 tablespoons corn syrup
2 cups sifted confectioners' sugar
1 pound chocolate confectioners' coating

Steps:

  • Drain cherries and set on paper towels to dry.
  • In a medium bowl, combine butter and corn syrup until smooth. Stir in confectioners' sugar and knead to form a dough. Chill to stiffen if necessary. Wrap each cherry in about 1 teaspoon of dough. Chill until firm.
  • Melt confectioners' coating in a heavy saucepan over low heat. Dip each cherry in by its stem, and place on waxed paper lined sheets. Chill until completely set. Store in an airtight container in a cool place. Best after 1 or 2 weeks.

This is a great recipe for the holidays (but not for kids!). Please prepare ahead of time, as for this recipe takes a week to make.

1 (10 ounce) jar maraschino cherries
½ cup rum (such as Bacardi 151®)
3 ¾ cups confectioners' sugar
½ cup butter, softened
¼ cup milk
1 teaspoon maple syrup
1 (6 ounce) bag chocolate chips
2 (1 ounce) squares semisweet chocolate
2 tablespoons butter, softened
2-inch square food-grade paraffin wax

Steps:

  • Pour cherries, with their juice, into a glass bowl. Cover cherries with rum. Cover with plastic wrap and store in the refrigerate for 1 week.
  • Drain and dry rum-infused cherries.
  • Line a baking sheet with waxed paper.
  • Mix confectioners' sugar, 1/2 cup butter, milk, and maple syrup together in a bowl until smooth and pliable. Wrap each cherry with sugar mixture. Arrange on baking sheet. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and chill until firm, about 30 minutes.
  • Combine chocolate chips, semisweet chocolate, 2 tablespoons butter, and paraffin wax in a saucepan. Heat over medium-low heat, stirring, until melted, about 5 minutes.
  • Dip each wrapped cherry into the melted chocolate mixture using a toothpick. Return to baking sheet. Repeat with remaining cherries. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and chill until set, about 1 hour.
