These cute chow mein Easter egg nests are so fun for Easter; chocolate, butterscotch, and peanut butter coat the chow mein and then you add your favorite Easter egg candy.

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 cup butterscotch chips
1 cup milk chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
6 oz chow mein noodles
48 cadbury mini eggs ((or other egg shaped candy))

Steps:

  • Put the butterscotch chips, chocolate chips, and peanut butter in a medium sized bowl.
  • Microwave for about 1 1/2 minutes.
  • Stir everything together.
  • If you need, microwave for additional 15 seconds at a time, stirring after until smooth and creamy.
  • Pour your chow mein noodles into the bowl and stir to coat with the chocolate mixture.
  • Line a baking sheet with a silicone liner or parchment paper.
  • Scoop some of the chow mein mixture onto the parchment paper and carefully move the pieces to mold them into nest shapes.
  • Place about 3 egg candies onto the nests.
  • Place in fridge to harden quickly, or allow to harden on counter for a couple hours.

10 peanuts or jelly beans

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • Line a baking sheet with waxed paper.
  • Place chocolate chips and peanut butter in a microwave-safe container. Heat on 50% power for 1 minute. Stir and repeat, until chocolate chips are melted.
  • Stir in chow mein noodles until fully coated.
  • Drop by tablespoonfuls onto a prepared baking sheet, forming a nest shape with your fingers.
  • Place a few peanuts or jelly beans in the center of each nest for eggs.
  • Refrigerate until firm.

1 egg
3 cups chow mein noodles
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
EGG SALAD:
6 hard-boiled large eggs, chopped
1/3 cup mayonnaise
1/3 cup finely chopped celery
2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley
1-1/2 teaspoons ground mustard
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon seasoned salt
Lettuce leaves, optional

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, beat egg. Add chow mein noodles and garlic salt; stir to coat. Drop by 1/3 cupfuls onto a greased baking sheet. Using fingers, shape each into a nest; make an indentation in the center of each. Bake at 350° for 11-13 minutes or until set. Cool for 2 minutes; remove to a wire rack to cool completely. , In a bowl, combine the first eight egg salad ingredients; mix well. Just before serving, spoon 1/4 cupful into each nest. Serve on a lettuce-lined plate if desired.

4-1/2 cups miniature marshmallows
1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
4 cups chow mein noodles
1 cup jelly beans or candy eggs

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and marshmallows until smooth, stirring occasionally. Add the peanut butter and chocolate chips; heat and stir for 2 minutes or until smooth. Remove from the heat; stir in chow mein noodles until well coated. , Divide into 12 mounds on a waxed paper-lined baking sheet. 1 cup butterscotch chips
1/4 cup creamy peanut butter
2 cup Chow Mein noodles
Almond M&M's or mini chocolate eggs

Steps:

  • Measure out the butterscotch chips and peanut butter in a microwave safe bowl.
  • Heat in 30 second intervals and stir after each interval until butterscotch chips have completely melted and are smooth. Make sure not to over heat.
  • Add Chow Mein Noodles to melted butterscotch and peanut butter mixture. Stir until the Chow Mein Noodles are evenly coated
  • Scoop spoonfuls into "nests" on parchment paper or lightly greased muffin tin.
  • Let rest until dry or place in the refrigerator for faster drying.
  • Top with your favorite egg shaped candy (mine happens to be almond M&M's)

cooking spray
40 candy-coated milk chocolate eggs

Steps:

  • Cook and stir marshmallows, peanut butter, and butter in a saucepan over medium heat until the marshmallows melt completely into the mixture, about 5 minutes.
  • Put chow mein noodles into a large bowl. Pour marshmallow mixture over the chow mein noodles; stir to coat.
  • Spray hands with cooking spray or coat with butter so the noodles will not stick to your hands. Scoop noodle mixture from bowl with an ice cream scoop and form into balls, hollowing the center out to create the nest. Arrange 4 chocolate eggs into each nest.

Fun Spring Treats! Kids love them. Use a 6 or 12 cup muffin tin depending on desired size of nests. We made only 6 nest with this recipe so we could overlap the top and give an "edge" for our bird to sit on. You could serve these right away or wrap them in a pretty cellophane bag and give them as a gift.

4 cups crunchy chow mein noodles
1/4 cup butter
2 cups mini marshmallows
1 (8 ounce) package candy coated chocolate eggs
6 marshmallow peeps
cooking spray

Steps:

  • Use a 6 or 12 cup muffin tin depending on desired size of nests. We made only 6 nest with this recipe so we could overlap the top and give an "edge" for our bird to sit on.
  • Heat butter and marshmallows over medium heat.
  • Stir till melted.
  • Add noodles and stir till completely coated.
  • Spray muffin tin then hands with cooking spray.
  • Place mixture into muffin cups and shape with hands to form "nests".
  • Refrigerate.
  • Approximately 30 minutes later, gently remove nests from muffin tin and perch a Peep on the side. (It helps if the nest is still a bit sticky, this will "glue" the peep on.).
  • Place nests on a tray and put back in the fridge till completely set.
  • Fill with candy eggs.

2 cloves garlic, minced
3 tablespoons ketchup
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
2 chicken breasts, diced
1 red bell pepper, chopped
½ cup spring onion, chopped
2 ½ cups bean sprout
1 pack fresh egg noodle
muffin tin

Steps:

  • To make the sauce, mix the grated ginger, garlic, ketchup, soy sauce and oyster sauce in a small bowl until combined. Set aside
  • Fry the chicken until cooked through.
  • Add the red pepper and spring onion and fry for 2 minutes.
  • Add the beansprouts and fry for a further 3-4 minutes.
  • Add the sauce and fry for another minute or two.
  • Add noodles to each hole of the muffin tin and pat down to make a small indent.
  • Bake for 15 minutes at 180°C (350°F).
  • Remove nests from muffin tin.
  • Spoon the chow mien onto the baked noodles.
  • Enjoy!
