CLOVE LEMONADE BASE
This makes the base for a lemonade drink. Just mix it up and keep it in the frig indefinitely for whenever you want a glass of lemonade.

Steps:
- Mix ingredients, bring slowly to the boiling point, and boil for 2 minutes.
- Cool and strain.
- Use 3 Tbls of this mixture for each 8 oz.
- glass, filling glass with water and ice.
- May be kept indefinitely in the refrigerator.
- Mint or lemon slices may be added.
THE BEST LEMONADE

Steps:
- Wash lemons under warm water. Roll them on the countertop with the palm of your hand to get them ready for juicing. Cut the lemons in half through their bellies. Juice lemons using either your hands or a juicer, reserving 2 lemon halves. Add the lemon juice to a pitcher. Add sugar and water and stir until sugar has completely dissolved. Add ice cubes and the reserved lemon halves.
PINEAPPLE CLOVE LEMONADE
Steps:
- Insert the cloves in the pineapple core evenly on all sides. Place in large container and
- cover with the lemonade, making sure the core is submerged. Steep 1 hour in the fridge, then serve over ice.

- In a small saucepan, combine sugar and 1 cup water. Bring to boil and stir to dissolve sugar. Allow to cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate until chilled.
- Remove seeds from lemon juice, but leave pulp. In pitcher, stir together chilled syrup, lemon juice and remaining 7 cups water.

SPICED LEMONADE
Serve this drink over ice in summer or warmed in winter - it's always refreshing. If you have a cold, a warm mug of spiced lemonade will make you feel much better. And when you're feeling great, it'll quench a big thirst, too!

- In a large saucepan, bring 4 cups water, sugar, cinnamon and cloves to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer 10 minutes. Remove from heat; discard cinnamon and cloves. Cool. , Pour into a large pitcher. Stir in lime, lemon, lemon juice and remaining water. Chill at least 1 hour. Serve in chilled glass over ice. Garnish with cinnamon stick if desired. Can also be served warm.

BEST LEMONADE
This is from one of my first Good House Keeping cookbooks. You must use a *zester* in order to avoid getting any of that bitter rind, and when you zest the lemons, zest them onto some sugar from the recipe (the sugar will 'catch' all of the oils). I also advise you from personal experience to use only the best skinned lemons for the best flavor.

Steps:
- Into a 1 quart Jar with tight fitting lid, put sugar and lemon peel, or zest; add 1 1/2 cups very hot water (not from tap!). With lid fitted firmly, shake jar until sugar is dissolved.
- Add lemon juice. Refrigerate until chilled.
- To Serve: Into each 12-ounce glass, over ice cubes, pour 1/4 cup of the lemon syrup.
- Then add chilled club soda or, if you prefer, water.
- Stir to mix well.
